The bottoms of his worn down shoes hit the sidewalk with a nauseating squish, the sound making Claude wince with irritation. He knew many creatures, humans and vampires alike, found a beauty in the rain, but to him, it served as nothing more then a grim reminder that the world was filled with unnecessary hindrances, puddles being one of them. On days today like today - and days not like today, because he was a depressed piece of shit - he would normally be asleep at the moment, the moody vampire being of the opinion that being awake was simply not a fun state to be in.

But fortunately for him, and perhaps the only fortunate thing that had happened to him in the past 6 months, Antony had given him not one, not two, but three dollars, the money safely tucked inside the pocket of his stained hoodie. Claude knew that the money was a gift given to him only out of pity, but he had accepted it regardless because his pride, much like his humanity, had left him long ago. Because who needed pride when you had free money, baby!

His thoughts were soon interrupted by a neon sign and a tantalizing smell, his naturally gloomy spirit ascending to new heights as he took in the sight of McDonalds: perhaps the greatest place on Earth. He had reached his destination, and he begrudgingly sent a silent thank you to Antony for allowing him to have the privilege of buying off the dollar menu tonight.

It was then when he felt it, a pain so impossibly severe, he was sure no living creature - mortal or immortal - had faced such a trial. Claude had forgotten a crucial fact of his unfortunate life - vampires can not eat McChickens. He fell to his knees and wept.
