Silvery orbs reflecting the low light bounced around, searching through the bamboo. As it stands, a second attempt to get back to the main staging area had left him thoroughly lost. He ran a hand through his red and orange locks, seeming to seek comfort from the action and finding none. A sigh of frustration left his chest as he took in the sight of hi surroundings. Seemingly he had lost his companion once the sounds of the show inspired them to start running towards the sound. Until they had become separated in the dense thicket. He tried to keep calm though it seemed he was rapidly getting frustrated.
If he hadn’t decided to take a short detour in hopes of finding some hidden shortcut, he would be in a different position. Sitting on the grass, watching fireworks and indulging in a drink of some kind, that is what he wanted. All his bent feelings were beginning to rattle him, and he came to a simple conclusion: He needed to take pause and regather himself. He sank down into the grass, crossed his legs and closed his eyes. His tail covered his lap as he tried to take soothing deep breathes. Let’s take inventory.

The to-do list had seemed simple in the moment: Food, Fireworks show and Socializing. Traveling here to get food was the main highlight of his evening. All he’d wanted was some incredible Festival food and games. Then perhaps socializing on the blanket he’d brought and watching fireworks, making new friends. He’d arrived on time, before his detour. However, he’d met another Lopilu in the bamboo named Kohaku. They were starting to reach an understanding and friendship before the music from the festival began. They rushed towards it only to become seriously lost and before he knew it, he was alone in the thick of it. Now he was 9 layers deep in teal and green hell, walking in circles. Maybe? That bundle of bamboo looked like one he passed earlier. But… wait, no that one looks like that one. Ugh. Now he wasn’t mediating, just comparing bamboo bunches.

Irritation clouded his mind and tightened his throat into a growl. He forced himself to stand and try to brace himself through the very frustration in his soul. He should have brought his axe. Cleave himself a nice path and then he’d be free. Sure, it was destructive but at least he wouldn’t be missing out on all the fun and food. He punched a nearby bamboo shoot and felt I crack under his knuckles.

Before he let himself melt completely into a pity part he looked up. Clarity, clean skies and beautiful lights reflected against the dark sky. Clouds mulling past and reflecting the colors of the festival. Lights. The lights reflected off the clouds and diluting the sky only shown from one direction! With his eureka moment fresh in his mind, he began to run. Pausing to look up at the sky and draw in the sight to ensure he never strayed off too far. Soon enough the bamboo parted and revealed his goal. Quibon back in sight.

A small sigh left him as he smiled, relived and feeling eager to at least get a look at what was going on. But before he could make it any further… the sky was a light with a crackle and bang. The fizzle of sparkling lights and chaotic thunder filled his senses. Flashes of blue, then green and warm purples lit up the sky in sharp contrast with the dusty dark skyline. He paused to drink it in, smiling as realization came; he hadn’t missed out on all the fun.

Another sparkle of color lit up his face and he paused to pay attention to the flashing firework. Gold and shimmering pink paired in a beautiful display of a lotus, followed by a bamboo leaf in green and an orange moon. He stood there in complete awe of the entire display for a long time until the fireworks slowed. He smirked at the beauty and creativity released in each flash before slowly making his way back to the festival. Perhaps his night might turn around after all, he hoped there was a good meal waiting at least!
