Sometimes, the world is so boring.

Usually Petal Feather would be absolutely amazed by the outside world because of the light emitting from Celestia's sun, something that she has rarely ever seen. On her first week of departing the Everfree Forest for the first time in years with Falling Beats, however, she somehow settled in very quickly, and got used to the brightness. She even thought about going back to Everfree, but was getting attached to her new friends in Ponyville, and thought against it.

Today, Falling Beats has led her to a meadow in the outskirts of Ponyville. Being a pony who's neighbors complain about her playing the trumpet so loudly, Falling plays outside from her home and finds more comfort there. At least, that's what she says. Petal noticed that her recent friend tends to make little lies about her personal life, but she could never be sure, and decided to let it be.

"What kind of songs can you play? Jazz? Pop? R&B? Ooh, ooh, how about metal?"

"How did you get from jazz, pop, R&B, and then metal of all things?" Falling Beats settled at a spot and set up her equipment. Petal Feather perked up in excitement, wanting to see the whole process of getting ready to play the trumpet, and Falling raised an eye at her. "What's up, buttercup?"

Petal opened her mouth in amazement. "Wow, how did you know those are my favorite flowers?"

The unicorn rolled her eyes, but couldn't help but smile. "I thought it was a more interesting way of asking what was going through your head."

Petal Feather sighed and flumped her head to the grass. "I thought this would be an interesting place, but I don't know, I feel like I already know a lot about Ponyville. There isn't as many countless things to discover as I had hoped."

"Maybe that's because you're used to the weirdness of the Everfree."

"I guess, there was so much to discover. I'm surprised nopony wanted to go there."

"For a good reason, I can't believe you're still alive living there," Falling Beats joked, but saw the unfulfilling look in her friend's eyes. "Okay fine, I'll show you something." She put her instrument down and stood up, beckoning the other pony to follow. "Close your eyes and make sure not to open them until I say so."

"Ooh, I love surprises!" Petal chirped. She walked as her friend's tail around her hoof acted as a guide.

The soft grass, newcomers of spring, lightly brushed against hooves leaving a cool feeling. (Like, cold cool, Petal thought, not, you know...) It was a little while, but eventually Falling ceased walking and gently whispered, "Open your eyes."

As the pink-coated mare lifted her eyelids, she quietly gasped as she saw themselves among a large group of dandelions. Suddenly, Falling Beats jumped up high and spun her whole body around, her tail gliding against the dandelions. Millions of seeds tugged off of their plants and flew all over the place, bathing in the sunlight, rising into the sky. Some came back down and landed on Petal Feather's nose. She couldn't breathe, she felt that it would make the whole scene disappear. Eventually the dots of white settled themselves into the grass, waiting to be brought anew again.

Falling was silent, letting her friend soak the scene in, and said, "You haven't even made a dent into what this world has to offer. Ponyville has so many things you haven't touched on, you only got across its surface. But if you don't know where to go, you can ask me. You can always ask me."

Petal Feather looked down and thought about all the things she has seen in this place. She was so excited to explore and learn everything that she didn't stop to really enjoy each detail Ponyville had to offer. Her point of view on this town has shifted.

"Now, can we get back to the trumpet already?" the purple-maned unicorn asked. "I still haven't practiced at all today and I really wanna get back to it."

Petal Feather looked up and grinned. "I really want to hear you play!"

And this time she's ready to take things slow, loving it while it lasts.
