The day in Thedale was hot as always. Nobody knows very well how the two duve pullers arrived in the red sands continent together but there was a reason.Shigure was recruited by the city of Warrenfall, while Sindriel came from Vitalus to collaborate with him.

And both were accompanied by the local “guide”, Grunt.

Considering the dark puller with the reptile tail wasn’t a party animal and Shigure had a haughty behavior, Sindriel felt a bit in awe at first. But as a knight his duty was to protect the scholar and his mission.

“So basically you have to find a new type of plant or something similar?” asked Sindriel.

His light blue and white long fur wasn’t helping him in the middle of the desert.

“It’s an important duty to find new species” said Shigure, nodding.

His fur was also blue and long but he didn’t seem worried at all. He was ready to do anything in order to complete his mission.

Grunt simply looked at them with a serious glance. He wasn’t talkative at all and he preferred to express himself with some growls and similar, but sometimes he also talked. His yellow-reddish fur on the neck, slightly covered by a striped marking made him really handsome.

The three continued to walk until they reached some trunks and as obstacles on their way, they needed to remove them.

“Step back” said Grunt.

Shigure and Sindriel followed his instructions and he started to produce some smoke from his body. The upper part of his body, where the phoenix marking was brighter, started to sparkle and unexpected blue flames came out from his mouth.

He used the blue flames to set on fire the obstacles and the trunks burned slowly in a wonderful show of lights, in the middle of the desert. Mixed with the sunlight, they produced a wonderful scenario and Sindriel remained speechless for a moment.

“What the hell are you doing?!” shouted Shigure.

He was basically a genius but often he was so rude that people could barely bear with him. He seemed so worried about the flames that he really wanted to find a solution.

“What’s happening?” asked Sindriel, confused.

“The trunks were an obstacle but they could have been covered in magical plants we never found before! We must find a solution so…” he said again, still concerned.

Thus his body also started to shine and all around him some small drops formed to create an unnatural scenario. It seemed like all the water of the desert was flowing from the ground to the bove and the blue fire vaporized instantly the unlucky drops that were brave enough to pass too close.

Then Shigure created a large flow of water and he used it to stop the flames from burning. In short they could see in front of them some burned trunks now half charcoal-like, completely wet.

“Mmmh that’s not bad but honestly I think all of your proofs are gone now” noticed Shigure.

Grunt emitted a short “hmpf”, a clear sign he found a good elemental rival. They were water and fire basically and the dark puller thought his flames were more beautiful than that rude water, even if he was a strong warrior that normally didn’t care about it. Probably it was just his fire user nature.

“So what do you suggest, genius?” asked Shigure, sarcastic.

Sindriel thought about it and in the end he found a good solution. The tobiano puller, trotted on another obstacle and observed it before talking again.

“Well, if you find something interesting, I can definitely help you”.

Both Shigure and Grunt looked at him with a puzzled glance.

Thus Sindriel nodded and he started to focus. He still needed it because he wasn’t very practical but in the end the air around became cold and spiky, a rare phenomenon to be visible in the desert.

It was like suddenly someone took them in another dimension and in some seconds the air around Sindriel started to freeze. The water particles released by Shigure’s magic became crystals and all the air assumed the same shape.

In short, around the three a small building made of ice and ice crystals became visible and when Sindriel opened his eyes, he noticed what he did. Shigure and Grunt jumped around for a while, trying to dodge the crystals the tobiano puller created.

“Where you trying to kill us?!” shouted Shigure.

Grunt grinned. He definitely found someone capable of facing his blue flames and he wanted to see if the stranger was strong enough to fight him.

“It seems I exaggerated…but in the end you can preserve the trunks this way, right?” he asked, giggling.

Shigure frowned.

“Well, if you could keep them frozen until we reach Warrenfall and at the same time transporting them, I don’t mind if you freeze everything” he shrugged.

“Eh? W-What? It’s more than a week away from here! No, more…more than two weeks! You can’t be serious!” replied the tobiano duve.

While the two were bickering, Grunt looked at them with an almost soft glance. Softer than his usual, at least. Finally he found two worthy rivals with whom he could have trained to become stronger.

“I challenge you” he said.

The two duvets looked at him and they stopped immediately. They seemed puzzled and also a bit scared, especially Shigure, who was just a scholar.

“I cannot refuse!” started to say Sindriel.

He created other crystals and Grunt emitted other smoke before releasing more flames around himself. The two started to fight, even if both of them were considering that a training. Maybe.

Shigure started to jump around, dodging the crystals with all the agility he had, extinguishing the flames with his magic. It was a difficult thing to do, but he managed to handle the situation very well.

“You two, that wasn’t supposed to be a training but a scientific research! Hey, you, can you hear me?”

But nobody replied. The other two seemed so happy to fight together that it would have been impossible to stop them for a while. Sindriel was a proud knight, while Grunt was a fiery warrior and both seemed intent on not to give up.

At that point Sigure put himself on a side and he sat down. He would have waited until the two had finished or would have been tired enough to stop. And at that point he would have used his water magic to shower them for a while.

In the end patience is the virtue of strong, right? And as a scholar he knew it very well.
