Cookie-Doe was starting to get a little older. She was still quite young, however, she was starting to feel more grown up and find herself more. Cookie was developing an interest in learning about a lot of things, and had firmly stated she had wanted to grow up to be like her dad. She had heard all of the fun stories about how he developed his magical abilities at a school, and went on all kinds of adventures to learn new things. Unfortunately her mother had deemed her too young still to go off to DESoM, however she still encouraged her to go visit and talk to some of the students and professors there. Getting a feel for the place would allow Cookie to fully decide if it was somewhere she really wanted to enroll at. Although sometimes thinking that her dad was lame or silly, she did acknowledge that he was super strong and powerful and always won when they were wrestling with their magic.

Cyan walked cheerfully around the magic school, happy to see familiar faces again and remember everything he got up to there--despite it not being all that long ago. His foal, Cookie-Doe, strayed along, looking around at every single thing she deemed interesting. Between her shorter stature and her being distracted, she found it hard to keep up.

“Hey, why don’t you stay here munchkin? I’m going to go say hello to the headmaster and see how he’s doing. I might be a while so I don’t want to bore you,” Cyan said. “You can explore a little, but don’t go too far please.”

“Alright!” Cookie eagerly agreed.

The excited filly stood still and behaved until Cyan was out of eyesight. She waited another ten seconds to be safe, but then quickly cantered towards the first thing that interested her. She was here to meet people and see cool things, and she couldn’t wait.

“Hello there!” Cookie introduced herself to a bay poodlish unicorn. The unicorn was tucked away in a nice brick building. Soot and ash seemed to have become apart of the classroom she stood in. On a chalk board it was written in big bold letters -- FIRE 101. “My name is Cookie-Doe. Dad used to go to school here and he let me come visit it!”

“Oh hello there Cookie-Doe,” Serenia chuckled at the sudden approach of the cute little deer spectraloosa. She peered behind the filly to see if its father was nearby, but from what she could sense, he wasn’t. “This may not be the safest room for you to be in. It can get pretty hot with fire.”

“Fire!” Cookie bounced in the air, “I love fire!”

Serenia shook her head and wasn’t sure what to do with the kid. She did not want to be responsible if something happened to her, nor have to explain to whoever her father was.  She said to the filly, “Alright, well, just be careful.”

Cookie-Doe nodded with enthusiasm and found a spot out of the way to watch the magical equines practice. It appeared that a session was just about to start. A lovely purple quirlicorn that Cookie found beautiful had entered and seemed to be the professor. They gave the foal an odd look, but figured it may have been a new student and left well enough alone. A scary celestial dragon horse who Cookie later found out was named Marry the Night found its spot in the room. It had big spikes along its tail and tall horns upon its head that intimidated the filly, but she tried to hide that fact. Another CDH had joined the class as well. Its attitude and presence was more scary than its appearance--the opposite of how Cookie felt towards the other one.

“Today you guys will be observing the movement of fire. I cannot stress how important this is, as, when you produce your own flame, it will be crucial to control where it goes and does not go. Fire can be dangerous, and you do not want anything getting out of control.” Mintaka started the class. Candles were placed in front of everybody at tables.

“Oh I can light those for you!” Cookie volunteered. Before anyone could say anything, she hopped around the room from table to table. As if she was blewing out candles in reverse, she huffed at each wick and produced a flame. The professor did not seem to appreciate the kid’s initiative very much. Cookie had gotten a bit ahead of themselves and felt their throat starting to burn.

“Watch out-” The professor called to his students as he saw the filly cough up a fireball that launched into a rather flammable wooden desk. He was quick enough to get ahead of it and disperse the flame with his own powers, but he was not impressed in the slightest.

“Sorry! I didn’t mean to-”

“Little filly,” Mintaka sighed. “As I was saying, control is important. You have a lot of power there, I know, and you want to use it. But you must start with the basics and build a strong foundation.”

Cookie sulked as she got back out of the way of everybody in the fire class. She knew he was right, but that didn’t mean she didn’t take a while to get over her embarrassment and actually listen. After some time though, she started to pay attention. The boucle she had first encountered when entering the room seemed to have a very good grasp on the concepts of fire. Sometimes Cookie would sneak glances at the more dragon like horses. Although not like any sort of horse she was used to seeing, she got more comfortable with them being around as the class went on. They looked like they got along with each other. She could see that they had a lot of raw power, likely coming from their natural abilities as a species, but they took the time to listen and learn. She may not have learned anything particular or understand much of what everyone was going on and on about, but she came to understand that she couldn’t just use her power all willy-nilly without putting the time into understanding it properly.

Sitting in on the class was fun for the young spectraloosa. She was super excited to be able to get super powerful and good at magic. She stuck around the brick building for a while, daydreaming about all the things she would do with her fire. A large amount of time passed before it struck her -- her dad was no doubt wondering where she ran off to.

“Cookie! I was worried something had happened to you. Where did you get off to, eh?” Cyan was concerned for his offspring and started looking her over immediately for injuries after finding her wandering back where he had left her -- a place he had checked for her three times before.

“I was fine Dad! I can handle myself,” She huffed stubbornly. Looking at his worried look she decided to tell him what went on. “I ended up at some fire class, and there was lots of cool people there! There was some scary dragons and some super cool unicorns! And we all looked at fire and talked about it and we even got to see Professor Mintaka use his magic!”

Only after he was sure she was unharmed did he respond to her. He couldn’t be upset at her for getting carried away with how excited and happy she sounded. “Well, I’m glad you had fun. But next time make sure to let me know where you are.”

“I’m sorry Dad, I will for sure.”

Cyan walked with Cookie down a path and towards a big and impressive building. Cyan knew exactly where he was going, but Cookie was just following along.

“Did you learn anything from the people in the fire class, little crumb?” Cyan asked as they continued on.

“I learned that I got a lot of learning to do.”

Cyan chuckled, “We all do. There’s always more to learn”

It didn’t take long for Cyan and Cookie to make it to their destination. They had been there for a while and there was no doubt that Deer would be expecting them home very soon, but there was one person Cyan wanted to make sure Cookie met before they left. He had had his catching up with the headmaster himself, but Myrdian had insisted he meet his little one that he had brought with him today.

“I heard quite a bit about you. You seem like you will be quite the promising student. We would be happy to have you here.”
