Danny handed a cup of coffee to a girl and smiled his best fake-smile “Thanks for coming to StarBucks, have a nice day~!” He chirped. He sighed and pulled out his phone. His shift was ending soon so he’d get to go home and figure out another plan to make Russell love him.

It was 6:30 in the evening. He glanced outside to see the sun starting to set. He wished to watch the sun set with Russell someday. And only him and Russell. No one else. One of Danny’s coworkers looked at him, confused and concerned. “Danny you okay? You’re mumbling and laughing like a psycho.” Danny snapped out of his trance and looked at them. “Yeah I’m fine.” “Well I can finish cleaning up here. You go home and get some sleep. You seem overly tired.” Danny glared at them slightly “Alright.”

Danny walked home and started munching on a cookie he swiped from the store without anyone noticing. He glanced around, having the slight feeling of being watched. He heard a fluttering of wings and looked behind him. Nothing. He kept walking and suddenly something started muttering in his ear. He quickly grabbed out his pocket knife and swiped at it. There was a slicing noise, and Danny looked down to see what looked like some kind of fairy, completely black, ..and sliced in half. Danny looked at the pocket knife, noticing the black blood from the fairy was starting to cover the knife, and a bit of his hand, he quickly got out his water bottle from his bag and splashed it at the knife and his hand, then ran home as fast as he could.

When he reached his house, he locked the door and dropped the bag, then walked to the kitchen and washed the knife, his hands, and the water bottle. “What the hell happened back there?” He thought. He didn’t know fairies were real. Or maybe it was some type of elaborate prank? He shook his head. The feeling of something terrible about to happen was too strong for it to just be a prank.

He glanced at the window and sighed. “Oh Russell, if you were here I’d feel much better….” He mumbled and dried the knife.
