After willingly cursing herself by binding a homicidal spirit to her soul in order to stop his killing spree, Diana Candle is adjusting surprisingly well. Jeffrey Donahue, the vengeful ghost in question, far less so. Some speculative follow-up to the Failed Exorcism of Jeffrey Donahue.

Pet Peeve

Jeffrey lounges in Diana’s well-worn armchair in a haughty, silly looking manner, and examines his nails for any dirt stuck underneath them out of habit, but being a ghost, nothing could really have changed about them. Occasionally, his unnervingly pale eyes will flicker up to Diana, seeming to be checking to see if she’s paying him any mind, and finding that she’s still absentmindedly scrolling on her phone, his pronounced frown deepens with annoyance. Jeffrey flexes his hand, and then decides pointedly to get her attention, lest he die a second time from boredom. He doesn’t like Diana, he keeps insisting this to himself, but if he has to be stuck with her, he’d at least make that her problem as well.

“Sometimes I think you forget just how terrible I am,” Jeffrey sounds in no way ashamed or self deprecating when he says this, instead almost seeming smug “You treat me more like a house pet than someone with a body count.”

“You are my house pet,” Diana responds from the couch, where she is looking at outdated memes on her cracked android phone.

Jeffrey sniffs indignantly, his eyes narrowing further out of disdain.
