The match had started and the two reoseans were facing each other. On a side of the large arena there was Grunt, the dark striped puller with a strong reptile tail and a bright reddish phoenix marking on the upper side of his body. On the other hand there was Tsireya, the small tyrian, a dark volcano like because of her bright yellow color mixed with black, which melted with blue on the lower part of her tail.

“Can you see from here?” asked Orion.

The tobi tabby puller was there with his friend, Rindou, a merle runner with a brown base coat and purple glint on the back. The red sands of Thedale made the climate dyer than usual, but the two were there to watch the match.

Grunt was silent, ready to attack his opponent, but Tsireya seemed to have another idea. She flew in the sky and used her flying ability to distract the puller.

Rindou aimed at the tyrian with a paw.

“Look! She’s amazing!” he said.

Orion looked above himself just in  time to see the tyrian flying down, aiming at Grunt. She was unlucky because the puller was a true warrior, specialized in many types of weapons: from hammers to axes, he could fight with almost everything.

Tsireya landed on the sand because the reptile tailed dark puller dodged with a loud “woooh” of the public. The arena was crowded and there were so many people.

But that didn’t seem a problem for the two fighters, just for Orion and Rindou. That’s because the runner was shorter than his friend and there were some other people and reoseans before them in the line.

The sun was high in the sky and that didn’t help them to make the fight easier. Thus people, as well as the fighters, were covered in sweat in most cases.

“I bet a hundred krones on her” said Orion, giggling.

After dodging, Grunt attacked the tyrian as well, using his ax. He was so fast that he scratched her side but Tsireya was fast enough not to be seriously injured.

The two looked at each other for a few seconds. Grunt’s green eyes got lost in Tsireya’s yellows and for one second he hesitated. He didn’t know why but there was something unique in her eyes.

But he was born to be a warrior and he was quickly ready again for another attack.

“I think I’ll trust the puller. He’s larger than the tyrian and he seems an expert, while her…” said Rindou, before sighing.

“Don’t underestimate the girls!” continued Orion, laughing.

He seemed a serious type but the truth was that he was a free boy who loved to have fun. Almost similar to a pirate, many people and reoseans exchanged him for one of them because of his similar demeanor.

And like pirates, he also loved to bet, that was the main reason he was there. Rindou was just a friend he invited and he found him really cute in some ways.

Anyway the match was still ongoing and the tobiano puller was curious. Grunt seemed so serious that Orion could barely understand what he was thinking about and Tsireya was a true enigma for him.

She was beautiful in her small size and she became even more gorgeous when she opened her wings to intimidate her opponent. The inner part of her wings left the public so surprised because of the vibrant colors that were in contrast with the dark blotched marking.

She growled loudly and she returned to attack.

She moved elegantly while Grunt was a bit rougher, still holding his ax in his mouth. It seemed impossible that a vayron could move so fast with a heavy weapon like that, but he trained well to move quickly.

The two started to run one after the other and when one of them dodged, the other one retired for a few seconds just to defend from the new attack. It was a really difficult fight.

At a certain point Grunt put a paw on Tsireya’s tail, blockling her on the ground and then he moved fast, aiming at her throat. He seemed so aggressive that the public thought he could have killed her.

The sand moved in a cloud of dust and smoke and for an instant it was difficult to understand what was happening.

“I cannot see anything!” complained Rindou.

Orion promptly put a paw on his eyes, shielding him from the sand. Rindou blushed slightly.

“T-Thank you” he murmured.

Orion smiled softly but he was more worried about the result of the match. He couldn’t lose a gamble like that.

Thus he tried to see through the sand cloud and he noticed Grunt first. He was next to the tyrian and it wasn’t simple to understand what was happening. Then Orion grinned.

In fact the tyrian was biting the dark puller on the flank and some blood was visible, but nothing too drastic. Tsireya took advantage of the sand cloud to counterattack and Grunt had a strange look into his eyes, Orion could see it.

He frowned, looking at the other puller with confusion. He was sure the puller would have won but he challenged Rindou just for fun and for another reason he didn’t understand well yet.

Grunt was clearly a trained warrior but that small tyrian seemed to have other tricks. And the dark puller was looking at her with…compassion, maybe. There was a singular light in his eyes, something Orion could recognize even if he saw it just for a few seconds.

Grunt lowered his ax when the center of the arena was still visible and Rindou looked at him, speechless.

“That’s…impossible” he murmured.

“Uhm, maybe he was just distracted by the sand” said the tobiano puller.

He was trying to reassure his friend but it seems Rindou was really surprised. In the end Grunt admitted his defeat and Tsireya was declared the winner.

She was so proud of herself that she smiled while the public roared in a happy clamor. She was panting hard, as well as Grunt, but the two retired in short and who knows, they would have had some time to talk together.

Orion looked at Rindou once everything was finished.

“Hey, don’t make that face. Sometimes the best lose as well” he said, smiling.

He retired the krones he won and the brown runner simply nodded.

“Let’s go eating somethin” proposed Orion.

At that point Rindou smiled. He understood there was no reason to be sad since he could stay with his friend, thus he smiled happily once again.

“Yes, let’s go!” he said, shaking his feline tail with enthusiasm.
