Orion and Akhantus were invited there to assist the fighters, the runner because he was a medic, and the puller because he became an official sponsor of Grunt. He really wanted to see more of his battles in the arena and he was rich enough to sustain his athletes.

Because in Orion’s opinion, fighters were athletes. And more than this they were his whims.

Anyway the two trotted quietly together after meeting around and discovering they wanted to reach the same destination. The sand in their paws was hot, but not as much as expected, maybe thanks to the climate that became a bit colder in the previous days.

Surprisingly it had rained for a couple of hours, a true event in Thedale.

Once they arrived at the place, they noticed several people and reoseans, as well as Grunt and his rival in the last match, the small tyrian, Tsireya.

“She’s cute” said Orion, giggling.

He was a sorta womanizer but it wasn’t his fault, it was his natural charme. Next to him, Akhantus sighed, before reaching the two athletes.

The candy colored runner was an abrasive boy, mostly because of his direct nature and his almost rude words. He was used to speaking sincerely to others and that was a problem in many cases.

“Hello” he said, approaching the two reoseans.

Grunt looked at him with a serious glance, passing his eyes from him to Tsireya and vice versa. It was evident he didn’t like both of them. The tyrian, at the same time, just emitted an annoyed “hmpf” before looking away.

They weren’t exactly party animals and Akhantus felt even more awkward than usual.

Thus Orion decided to help them. All three, obviously.

“Hey, guys, what are those faces?” he started, trotting happily. “You’re so cool today and I’m pretty sure it’s also thanks to your new toys” he continued.

He aimed at the new furniture and structures he bought for the athletes there in Thedale to permit them to train when and as they wanted.

“That’s the main problem” said Grunt, unexpectedly.

“What do you mean?”

The dark puller aimed at the tyrian with his muzzle.

“She was always using the structures I needed and she neither can use weapons! I can’t train well if she doesn’t move from there!”

“What are you saying?!” started Tsireya, offended.

The two argued for a while, using not properly kind words to each other and the two guests sighed. Then Orion giggled again.

“What if I offer to train and work together to prepare for the next match?” he proposed.

Tsireya and Grunt raised their ears and Akhantus looked at him frowning.

“My friend and I will be glad to challenge you two in a private match. You’ll have until the next full moon to train and I’m sure that this way you’ll find the perfect combination of working and…passion” he nods.

There wasn’t malice in his words, he just wanted to be sure the two will bond just a bit, becoming an almost invincible team. At least he needed it for its profits.

Both the phoenix puller and the tyrian seemed proud enough to accept his offer and they smiled happily thinking about the future match.

The air around seemed more relaxed even if the continent of the red sands was always hotter than any other and the sand was dirtying their paws.

“But before returning to fight, you’ll need a complete checkup!” said the red splash runner.

As a medic, his duty was to be sure his athletes were healthy and safe. Always.

“So sit down and wait for your turn” he continued.

At first he checked Grunt, who sat down with an annoyed expression. Tsireya giggled and he growled a bit at her. She replied showing him her tongue and they continued as if they were two puppies for some minutes.

Orion laughed but the medic seemed even more annoyed. He wasn’t paid enough to take care of similar puppies.

“Please, guys” said Akhantus, checking the dark puller’s muscles.

He had a really strong and well trained body. Every single muscle was well defined and his jaw was also strong enough to bite hard and to sustain the weight of a metal weapon. For this reason the medic checked if his teeth were also okay.

Tsireya took a look at the dark puller’s body and Orion noticed it, smiling mischievously.

“What are you looking at, darling?” he asked, making fun of her.

The tyrian blushed a bit and she looked away.

“Nothing! I’m just wondering which type of proteins or similar is he using to train” she lied.

Grunt looked at her and for the first time he smiled. Almost. Well, it was a half smile but it was enough for him.

“I’m using a product that’s coming from Vitalus. There’s an eccentric and exuberant tyrian called Ikki who’s selling every type of product. He’s a good merchant and he always laughs like an idiot” he confirmed.

Akhantus continued his checkup while hearing that strange description. He never met a similar reosean but he seemed a true idiot, as Grunt said.

Orion and Tsireya looked at him with surprise.

“I’d need to pay him a visit if he really has everything” said the tabby tobiano puller, grinning.

The tyrian was almost speaking again but the red and white runner let Grunt move and he anticipated Tsireya in speaking.

“Your turn”.

The black and orange tyrian stepped in front of him to make sure her paws were fine and she opened the wings when the runner asked her to do so. She seemed perfectly healthy like her companion, luckily.

Her small body was perfect and also gorgeous. Not just because of the colors, but because she was really pretty and the two pullers looked at her with a soft glance, almost dreaming.

She noticed them and they looked away.

Grunt would have never admitted she was a handsome rival yet ally and Orion was already interested in someone else, so his was just physical attraction.

“You’re both healthy and ready to go but I’ll suggest you to take some vitamins and food supplements just as precaution” continued Akhnatus, looking at them.

“So it’s decided!” said Orion, interrupting the medic. “You have one month to train before our match and after that we’ll see who’s better at fighting” he finished, nodding.

Grunt and Tsireya grinned softly, looking at each other. In that moment they felt a strong complicity coming out from their souls as if defeating the tobiano puller was the most important thing in the world.

“Sounds perfect!” they said.

Then they reached the training field together. Grund had a relaxed expression on his muzzle, a rare event but it was comprehensible. Tsireya, on the other hand, was jumping slightly, happy for that new incoming event. Both were determined to do their best to reach success.

“You did it on purpose, didn’t you?” asked Akhantus to Orion, in a whisper.

“What do you mean?” asked him, pretending not to understand.

The puller giggled happily, looking at Grunt and Tsireya talking about the new training system. He was sure they would have surprised him and not just because of their fighting abilities.
