[ Vulture ]

"Hey, Flarepaw, if I remember correctly?"

The large tom tried not to hover over the other, sitting a little distance from the ginger and white tom. Olive eyes carefully scanned the clearing before focussing in on the smaller figure once more. ”Never got to introduce myself, nor thank you, now I think back. So, name’s Vulture, and thank you for helping us out; I’m usually more coordinated,” he took a moment to sigh out a chuckle, ”but, alas, I’ve never been in these conditions before.”

Nobody in the clan thusfar had wronged him nor his son, but their arrival couldn’t have been at a worse time. Deaths, departures and a whole bunch of movement and chaos. Vulture worried that Wolfkit wouldn’t handle the change all too well, but only time could tell. In the meantime, he thought it best to scout out a couple of trustworthy individuals, ask them about their experiences and make sense of RoseClan’s collective morals. He thought it best to be safe than sorry, after all. ”Sure is an interesting place, though. Very… Unique? You said you’re new, right?” The tom paused, pursing his lips with a smile, ”forgive all my questions, I’ve only had Co- ah.. Wolfkit as company for the past moon.”

[ Flarepaw ]

The smaller tom was rather silent, just watching Vulture as he spoke, although he nodded quickly at his question, if his name was Flarepaw. When he had first joined, another.. what did these cats call them? Rogues? Another rogue had joined the clan, by the name of Deermouse. This was about a first for him, compared to that moment, and even if he did want to try to talk to the warrior, she seemed rather intimating, with that.. creepy warrior that was usually somehow involved with her. He wanted to make a good impression, for the clan and for himself, he only got one shot!

"I joined a few moons ago, if I can remember correctly," Flarepaw attempted to trace back his memories, to find the exact timeframe to which he became one of the cats of the clan. Was it 3 moons? 4? 2? He honestly wasn't sure, it frightened him the smallest bit- he had to keep track. "So yes, I am rather new, at least compared to most of the cat's here." His tone was pretty much monotone, not conveying much, although he was feeling some sort of light feeling.. whatever it was.

The apprentice shook his head, "Don't apologize, there isn't anything to apologize for, really. It's a lot." He doubted how he was acting- what he not showing enough respect? Was he being too.. prideful? He felt like he was unintentionally acting above the warrior, when that wasn't at all how he felt- he was going to say something to clarify, but couldn't find the words, opting to just keep his snout shut.

Since the two of them were relatively new, Vulture led himself to believe they were in a similar predicament - obviously not quite the same, but adjusting to new surroundings, used to it or not, always proved itself to be something of a unique experience. The newcomer nodded along, ”I see.” Unlike himself, Flarepaw was still rather young, so their experiences were bound to be different. The other’s tone didn’t quite spark any enthusiasm, so Vulture remained skeptical of his new surroundings, at least for now.

Pushing his jaw to the side in an attempt to relieve some tension, the large tom watched the apprentice, but subconsciusl noted not to stare. ”Truly, I’m grateful of your willingness to help us out - all of you. New or not. It’s my pleasure to meet you, Flarepaw.” Offering a beaming smile, the tom relaxed, rolling his shoulders. But he couldn’t quite deny the twinge in his lower jaw for too much longer now… He had to keep up face, just for a while - for Wolfkit. ”Are you still adjusting if you don’t mind me asking? I’ve been on the go my whole life but the little one… Well, he’s a special case,” Vulture chuckled, ”thought you’d understand the younger mindset more than myself.”
