(MEL I FEEL SO BAD MAKING DRACO BE THE REASON FOR HER TO BE C  R I  N G E. IMSO SORRY I PORMISE IL MAKE A CHAPTER ALL ABOUT DRACO BEING FUCKAING AWESOME AS SHIT)

Beneath the endless expanse of the ocean hid a grotto, its cavernous window opened widely to a drop off. Its appearance was eerie, yet serene. The entrance framed with jagged rock formations, that if any creature tried to pass too quickly, would no doubt end up with a nasty scar. Its surrounding atmosphere was still, the water drifting towards the grotto's mouth eager to pull anything through that ventured too closely. This left only uncertain speculation of what beast could dwell inside this foreboding home.
However, no beast there was. Past its disconcerting entrance, the inside was an inviting sanctum. The walls were a tapestry of life, anemones and coral danced to the rhythm of the ocean. Among the beautifully blooming sea life there was colorful furniture, all made up of smoothed down coral. Above, there was a large hole, allowing the sun to pass her rays through the thickness of the water and into the home, which lit it up spectacularly as the light hit carefully placed iridescent shells.

There, a mermaid sifted through her shelves. Her expression only of pure focus as she continuously looked over the same shelves repeatedly. They were lined with dazzling shells, each holding a unique story, a memory from her many treks across the sea. Today, she was eager to part with one, to allow it to go on another adventure and create a whole new story above the sea. Her fin-like wings brushed along all of them, lifting and examining each shells texture, color and shape. She eventually picked one up, inspecting it carefully. It was a shimmering moon snail, its patterns were wondrously intricate with speckles of gold. She swiftly swam her way over to her companion. A pufferfish, it floated idlily beside her bed frame with a blank expression. it seemed to already be bloated despite being in the safety of its home. She excitedly tossed the shell in front of it, watching with him as it made its slow descent through the water, its golden hues glistening as it turned.

"What do you think? Pirates love gold, right?"

She waited for her fishy friend to reply, to which it only gave a slow, uneven blink of its eyes. She seemed to completely understand and proceeded to nod in agreement with it.

"You're right, maybe he doesn't even like gold..." She sighed, "May Neptune forgive me for stereotyping."

She took back the shell, gently setting it down with its fellow shell friends. Her eyes scanned once more as she mumbled to herself. Minutes and minutes pass, which truly began to rack up as she checked the suns position, gasping as just how late it had gotten to when she needed to go. She quickly looked back, anxiously panning back and forth from shell to shell. Until finally, one stuck out to her. She kicked it up into her wings with her tail. A pleased smile gracing her beak, she held the shell up into the central light of her grotto. It shined with mystifying beauty, as if it were made of thousands of shards of glass and delicately placed to capture the light just so. It was more than perfect. She carried it with her as she danced around her room, tossing it around to watch its colors shift radiantly. She excitedly swooped it up, cradling it as she rushed towards her pufferfish friend. With a farewell peck to his spiky forehead, she swam off, the mouth of her grotto spitting her out as she made her way through.

She glided just below the surface of the cerulean sea, her body moving with elegance as she followed the motion of the waves. With the fluidity of the water her form was like liquid metal, her translucent fins trailing behind her like a silken veil as she made her way towards a ship in the distance. As she neared, she made sure to dive deeper into the cover of the sea, knowing just how noticeable her silver scales can be in daylight. She cautiously made her way underneath the ship, sliding her wings against its weathered wood using it to boost herself forward. She peaked her head above the water, gazing up at the ship's massive stern. While her eyes adjusted to the light she caught a silhouette, a gravelly voice spoke from it,

"Ahoy, yer' late."

She quickly recognized her friends voice, Draco. The captain of this very ship. Once the salt water finally left her eyes, she saw her friend much clearer. Draco looked rather intimidating perched up on the stern of her ship, leaned against the railing that shifted and creaked under her weight. She would usually be fearful of any pirate, but this one she knew she could trust.

"Curse Nessie! I thought I swam fast enough to make up for lost time!" She huffed, facepalming at her own fault, "I apologize..."
She nervously fidgeted with the shell she held underwater, glancing past the stern of the ship curiously.

"So... Where is he?" She asked, eagerly staring up at her friend. Just then, Draco burst out in a guttural laugh.

"In the belly of a beast by now!" She wiped her damp snout before continuing, raising a claw "Just Northwest of here, on a measly pile er' rock." Draco snickered, watching amusedly as her friend's face turned pale at her comment.

"You just left him on some rocks? That was your plan?" She shook her head, baffled.

"Aye, aye! Would ya have rather I let him walk the plank?"

And with that reply, she only laughed along with her friend and shrugged. She waved a wing as she drifted in the direction Draco had given, bidding a farewell. She dove back into the water, her next destination being one she had anticipated for days. She leapt around with joy as she made her way there, her head racing with thoughts of how this mystery pirate she rescued forever ago may be like.
