Radiation Zone- PA Quest

Hazardous Expeditions- PA QUEST

A hot day on the Island , the heat wave had been hitting the dinosaurs hard who stayed out in the open too long. Most would make their way inland to find the thick vegetation to get away from the scorching heatwave, it had been going on for a few days now. A large black creature made its way through the thicker plants and bushes to escape the heat, snapping of plant life could be heard as it moved through soon coming to an opening. The large herbivore soon stopped shaking its feathers to get the debris off him, Zombie, a large male stryacosaurus was trying to escape the heatwave himself. He had made his way to find the large waterfalls that found its home in Pera's eastern forest on the island; he had found the stream that banked off it.

“Finally some water, in this heat” he sighed leaning down putting his foot into the cooling water. Zombie continued to follow the stream up towards the heart of the waterfall. It was a long walk but it kept him out of the heat. He made his way up a dirt path that followed alongside the stream, twigs snapping under his weight. A cooling swim was in order for overheating sty due to his large feather coat, he kept walking, soon crossing the stream once more kicking at the water. Trees overhung the pathway soon growing thicker in places, almost overgrown in larger places, Zombie played no mind to it. The path soon winded up a large steep hill, causing Zombie to put more effort into making it up the hill.

Zombie found himself at the top of the hill letting out a large sigh before seeing the stream again letting out a faint snort. The hot weather soon subsided as he made his way under a rocky overhang that had been dampened by the now roaring water from the waterfall up ahead. The stream had now begun to open into a larger body of water, the pathway soon disappearing as he walked. The waterfall soon came into view, the loud water crashed against the jagged rocks, water splashed wetting the ground surrounding the area.

“ Wow what a pretty place, I should come up here more often” he mumbled to him before taking a couple steps into the water. His feet became submerged making sure he wouldn’t lose his footing. Zombie leaned down to get a drink before noticing a large fish swimming around the pool that the water pooled into. Something seemed off with the fish; it wasn't something he had seen on the island as usual. It seemed a lot larger and sprouted large spines along its back, he looked at it puzzled before leaning down to take a drink of the brisk cooling water. Dipping his beak into the running water, taking a few large drinks before looking up as the water tasted a bit funny. “ This seems a bit different” he stopped saying to himself, before spitting it out his tongue going numb slightly.

The aftertaste of the stream water was not very good , and left a stinging feeling to Zombies tongue. “ What is wrong with this water?” he said, fumbling over words due to this tongue being stung. He stepped away from the water shaking his head from the discomfort, finally getting his mouth in order. “ Weird..” Zombie looked around seeing the thick plants that surrounded the waterfall area, they seemed overgrown and tropical fruit hung from many of the trees. Bright in color and very large. The large herbivore made his way to a large tree , standing on his hind legs reaching up to inspect the fruit. Sniffing and snorting Zombie sniffed the low hanging fruit before stepping down off the tree. The unknown area he had wandered into near the waterfall was never this colorful before nor did it ever have this fruit.

“ This has never grown here before, must be a new plant” he said, turning around before finding a small cave entrance hidden behind a thick brush of plants. “What's this place?” it led down as he looked back once more before entering. The cave was damp and dark, rocks that lined the cave were wet due to the splashing water from the falls. The cave was Vibrant covered in plant life, flowers booming of many different colors, Zombie stood still amazed as he kept his pace after taking it all in. Pools of water covered the rocky areas within the small cave.

“ whoa what is this place” He was amazed looking in all directions, leaning down to sniff the small pools that were filled with glistening water. He shook his feathers, stepping sideways around the pools. Zombie had never seen anything like this , these flowers and fruit were new to him. A small waterfall had panned off from the larger one outside, and found itself inside the small cave. The water poured into a small lake area that took up the rest of the cave, Zombie made his way over stepping down small rock cliffs towards the small lake.

The water parted as Zombie made his way into the cooling blue water, a swim was in order for this hot sty and he had every plan to soak it in. He made his way kicking through the water, before getting out on the other side shaking the water off him. The large herbivore soon sat down mesmerized by the new found place. It had been hours since he first made his way up to the waterfall spot, and it seemed he had dozed off for a few hours. Zombie was awoken by rocking falling and one hitting him in the horn, he quickly got up seeing more rocks tumbling around him.

“ Time to go!” he thought quickly before diving into the pool of water kicking at a past pace. Getting to the other side and running up the rocky cliffs he had come down on prior. Zombie finally made it out of the small tunnel back at the base of the large waterfall. Tripping over a branch before smalling his face into the ground with his hind in the air. Least he had made it out and wasn’t crushed.

“ phew that was close” he said rolling over painfully. He dusted himself off  before taking one last look at the tunnel he came from, something was up with this place and it was weird. He stood to his feet before making his way to a fruit on the ground picking it up. Pushing his way through the thick bushes that kept this place hidden, he made his way down the pathway he had followed up here.

“I should tell the others about this place” he mumbled, holding the fruit in his beak, he wanted to share this place with others and he brought a fruit to prove his point. Finally breaking the tree line back onto the island. Zombie looked back once more before going on his way, wanting to return back to this place with others.

Back in the cave , bubbling started to rumble underneath the water. A dark figure swimming under the waters edge, this beautiful place seemed to bloom all of a sudden. It seemed it was hiding something more sinister. Further down the stream from the main waterfall the spined fish that were rather large seemed to have jumped the rocks that connected to the main islands water source, Deep under the water the fish made its way soon wrecking carnage on the islands marine life. Something was brewing and it radiated trouble. Soon the once blue water started to turn a greenish color slowly seeping.

Zombie had made his way back to his friends, Seeing Oculus and Salem grazing in the open. They both looked up seeing Zombie. Soon laying eyes on the colorful fruit that was clutched in his beak looked unusual. “ Guys I found this place up by the waterfall, it was bright and full of color!” He said, setting down the fruit in front of them.

“ I have never seen anything like this on the island, are you sure it isn’t poisonous?” Oculus said, lifting his head at Zombie. Questioning the fruit in front of him.

“ I don’t think so, but you have to come see!” Zombie said, pushing it towards them. “ Although the water does taste kinda funny”. Sitting down waiting for an answer from them.

Oculus shook his head and sighed pushing paste Zombie “ Lead the way”.

As the group walked they headed towards the thick trees that followed the path up to the waterfall  spot. As they walked by they paid no attention to the danger they were about to stumble upon.

A thick bush that had been pushed out of the way by the herbivores soon revealed a bright sign that wrote W.A.R.N.I.N.G in large letters. Written under it Radiation was spelt out. It was missed as the group continued their journey.
