Chapter 1: Gods

Gods are at the top tier of the Azurel power scale. Even lesser Gods have a large amount of power, and general invincibility to age and injury.

Azurel Gods generally keep to themselves, not too many want to interact with mortals too much. Some Gods are more social than others, but many can only be seen during specific occasions.

Azurel Gods are neutral in nature, with no personal agendas except for maybe Cheshire the God of Chaos. The rest of the Gods have a specific job to do, and don't usually care about much else.

Sir: the lead God of Azurel. He's the guy you think of when someone talks about God. The lord of all creation and the master of general fate. He's the proverbial Superman of gods, with the power to do absolutely anything. In true God fashion, he doesn't mettle in the affairs of mortals willy-nilly, and often takes a shine to some mortals in particular.

Niorr: The God of the underworld (essentially Hell). He is a black and grey wolf with a red aura. Despite what you'd expect the God of Hell to be, he's mostly Cerberus - the gate-keeper making sure nobody leaves the underworld before their sentance is finished (a finished sentence means eligibility for reincarnation). Niorr inspires fear in all Azurel Residents as they aquate it to seeing the devil himself; however, Noirr isn't evil. Noirr is the most solitary God in Azurel, and therefore he is the most misunderstood. He's a God of few words, and even fewer confidants, so hardly anyone knows what he's really like. Despite being the most solitary, Noirr isn't a lonely God; He doesn't really thrive on the attention of others.

Lunar: Azurel's Night God. He is a purple horse with a black and white mane, blue legs, and a blanket of stars on his back. The moon on his flank reflects the moon phase in the sky, and he has voided white eyes that glow in the dark. Wherever Lunar goes, the night follows him, so Lunar has to go to a different realm to see sunlight.  He is a lonely God, as he has a stern appearance that unnerves everyone. Lunar likes mortals, but he's just too shy to effectively interact. Despite being a shy and lonely God, Lunar was the first God to have a mate and offspring. Lunar was approached by a unicorn mare, and he was flattered that a Unicorn of all beings was interested in him, and they became mates. Lunar used his godly powers to create a whole new flower for his mate, the Moon Flower, to symbolize their love. Together they had three foals, Demigods. Unfortunately Lunar discovered that his mate was abusive towards their eldest child, and he rejected her. Lunar ended up getting rather depressed afterwards, having trusted someone so cruel for so long. Eventually, he became friends with a young Girl (Serenity) who wanted one of his Moon Flowers to give to her crush for Christmas. Lunar liked the fact that his flowers were being used to symbolize a different love than the one that betrayed him.

Helios: Azurel's Sun God. Helios is a small yellow dog with a fluffy orange tail, and a mop of orange hair that hides his eyes. Helios is a very social and laid-back God. Daylight follows him wherever he goes, so Helios would have to go to another realm to see the night sky. Helios has a surfer-dude kind of personality, enjoying playing on the beaches best of all. He loves to talk to all the mortals he meets, and his bouncy and outgoing Dog personality charms nearly everyone he meets.

Korren: Azurel's God of snow. Korren looks like a mixture between a dog and a cat with a unicorn horn. He's blue and white, with a purple ruffle of fur around his neck, and puffs of purple fur around his ankles. Korren is a solitary God by nature, not really enjoying the company of others, however there's a small exception. He is a God of so few words, most Azurel Residents think Korren is mute, but when he speaks, he sounds a bit crass with a Russian accent. Korren is responsible for the snow in Azurel, his biggest day to shine being "The day of First Snow". The few folks he enjoys being around are his cohort, Feng`ari, and his girlfriend, Wendy. He had feelings for Cyn of Namina, and actually mourned her death when he heard the news.

Feng`ari: The Azurel God of Ice. Feng`ari is a blue anthropomorphic cat with small blue antler-like horns. He's not a very social God, but he's not antisocial. He is willing to interact with others, but one should be warned that he's very dry and sarcastic-but not impossible to get along with, as he has a good sense of humor. Feng`ari has a brother named `Ilios who is the Fire God, and they are the only Gods who are siblings! Feng`ari helps Korren with the winter season by speeding up the formation of ice. He isn't responsible for all ice, but he can make ice on command, and artfully I might add.

`Ilios: The Azurel God of Fire. Like Feng`ari, `Ilios is also an anthropomorphic cat, but yellow with small red horns. `Ilios is a very social God, one that is very outgoing and thrives on talking to other folks. Be warned! `Ilios loves to joke and make puns. He also likes to pull harmless pranks. There's not much call for purposeful fire in Azurel, but `Ilios insists on helping with festivals be it bonfires or lighting lanterns. `Ilios is not responsible for all fire, as individuals can make fire themselves, but `Ilios is an artful master of fire.

Rift: The God of Space and Time. Rift is a fluffy blue anthropomorphic dog with galaxy patches and tiny yellow stars. It's not exactly clear what Rift is responsible for, but he is able to work with time and bend it to his will. It is said that Rift is responsible for the long natural life spans of characters in Azurel, as well as being responsible for keeping kids young at the desire of their parents, and allowing them to age when they seem ready to age up. Rift is a confusing one to understand, but an easy one to talk to. He has a nice personality, though he doesn't socialize much. He won't say no to talking to someone, but he doesn't exactly seek them out to talk to.

Thi'ala: The Goddess of the Forests. She appears to be some sort of cervid centaur with long pink hair, a small horn in the center of her head, and antlers- all colored in a mildly rainbowish motif. Thi'ala is a cynical Goddess, one that doesn't trust anyone outside her forests. She is responsible for the flora and fauna that dwell within her forests and She's distrustful of most humanoids, and tends to favor the feral. She's not very social, and seems to be a bit on the cold side.

Cheshire: The Azurel Chaos God. Cheshire came to me in a dream, name and all. He is a Brown hyena with with red-violet spots, a purple mane and tail, and Grey eyes with red and black spiral pupils. Cheshire is a very social God who loves to pull pranks and cause all sorts of mischief. He makes life in Azurel interesting. Cheshire Is very highly revered by other mischievous residents.

Aurora: The Azurel Goddess of the Northern Lights. She is a black cow with blue and purple swirls, and dotted over with a few yellow stars. Aurora is responsible for one of my favorite places in Azurel, a place where the night sky is constant, but alight with colorful streamers of aurora borealis. She is a fun loving, sassy goddess that thrives on the attention of others, so much so that she has a group of devoted followers. She also considers Lunar to be her best friend, so much so that there had been rumors that they were romantically involved, but as much as Aurora likes to tease and play with this rumor, the rumor is false.

Dazed Dreams: The Azurel God of Dreams. He is a blue and white dog with purpleish pink wings that glitter on the undersides, and a white tipped blue tail adorned with little glowing yellow stars. He usually goes by his nickname "Daze". He's a relaxed and laid back God, and tends to socialize lightly. Although Lunar was the first, Daze was the second Azurel God to take a mate, Koala, a sweet winged canine- perfectly mortal. Together they had two sons, Demigods with dream powers much like their father.

Vale: Azurel's God of the stars. They don't have a gender, and they appear to be some sort of large fluffy canine with large ears, large fangs, a black blanket of fur across their back, and a network of white stars dangling from the blanket marking, dotted with luminous white speckles. During the day, they have a dusky coloration to their fur, a shy pink to a powder blue. As they day progresses, their fur gets darker, and at nightfall, their fur turns a dark Grey, and luminous white speckles become more prominent. Vale is kind of a shy God, and is a friend of Lunar's. They are responsible for the stars in the Azurel sky, and they like to make constellations in the sky.

Guider: The Azurel Guardian God. Technically the second Azurel God to exist after Sir. Guider is a dark blue dog with white and lighter blue markings, with a white crescent moon surrounded by 3 white stars on each shoulder. He has white markings all glow, and his voided white eyes that also glow. Guider does exactly what you can assume he does, he guides those who ask for his help, usually those who are physically or metaphorically lost. He can't release anyone from bindings, or physically break anyone out, but he can guide mortals out of forests, or provide clarity to difficult situations, if only he is asked for. Guider doesn't actually socialize, so he doesn't actually have any friends. But he's not actually lonely either.

Wish: The Azurel Goddess of Wishes. She is a small white and blue dog adorned with little yellow stars. She is the child-like keeper of wishes, and is able to grant a single wish for anyone who asks, but only one per being- Doesn't matter where they come from. The single wish actually comes with a set of rules so that things don't get out of hand.

Although they're not as powerful, it bares mentioning Demigods in this chapter. Demigods are the offspring of a God, usually with a mortal. Demigods have powerful magic, although they are not as powerful as the God's themselves. Powers get weaker as the generations go on and dilute the God's original genes, but a child of a Demigod is still considered a demigod. Although the Gods themselves are immortal, Demigods are not. They are resilient, and resistant to deathly situations, but they can still die like any other residents of Azurel.
