Ashe pulled out a batch of gale-force macaroons. These were particularly because of their fluffy airy texture and a slight puff of air in every bite. She glanced over at the macaroons on the tray and noticed a slight imperfection in one of them. "Oh well, im sure no one would notice", she thought to herself. She began to reminisce about the first time she had made macaroons. She was absolutely awful and had little to no experience in baking. This was actually a time before she new anything about enchantments or baking. At the time she was working in transportation. Ferrying people to and fro and coming home in the late hours of the day. Before the bakery, before alch-ulinary school, Ashe lived with a particularly small kitbull. To put it lightly, she was vertically challenged, but what she lacked in height, she made up in kindness and compassion. She had been generous enough to allow Ashe to stay with her and was very lenient on rent. It was thanks to her generosity that Ashe was able to go to school and learn everything she knows now. After a particularly rough month at work, Ashe was going through a bad bout of depression. But through it all, the kitbull was there to support her. She lifted her spirits and made her smile and laugh when nothing else could. And when Ashe finally felt better, she decided she would do something nice for the kitbull as a token of gratitude. She knew the kitbull had a really strong sweet tooth and also that macaroons were one of their favorites. So she set out to bake her a batch, gathering all the ingredients necessary. Super Fine almond flower, confectioners sugar, baking powder and baking soda were all combined into a bowl and set aside. The difficult part of making macaroons was in how delicate the process was. The next step was to beat egg whites until they reached "soft peaks". Ashe carefully cracked open three eggs, and one by one she poured out the egg whites, being careful not to let the yolk follow. Once she had the 3 egg whites in a bowl, she beat them vigorously. Try and try as she might, she could not reach the soft peaks form so she made herself a snack with the aerated egg whites. She repeated and failed this process 2 more times. On the third time she decided to proceed with the recipe using her failed egg whites. She mixed in granulated sugar and then added her bowl of dry ingredients. It formed into a grainy creamy mixture. And even though it wasnt right, she cooked it just like that. The end result were some ugly cracked "abominations" as she called them. Mishapen clumps of cookie. The taste however, was rather pleasant. Instead of discarding them she stored them away and surprised her friend in the morning. They shared a good laugh about the hideous look. But once the kitbull took a bite, her eyes widened as she realized how delicious they really were. The look on her face was surprise followed by pure bliss and pleasure. Ashe will never forget that face. She too felt an immeasurable warmth in her heart. The feeling of seeing others enjoy her labor brought about feelings of happiness and love. And as her friend scarfed down the rest of those cookies, Ashe made up her mind to dedicating herself to the pursuit of that feeling.
