The day had come. Orion launched the challenge for the two other reoseans and now he was waiting for them next to his friend and companion in that adventure, Rindou. The merle boy was looking at the tobiano puller and the two were looking at the horizon.

The dunes of the red sands seemed firm, but the truth was that the wind was moving the small grains, whispering subtly. Thedale wasn’t famous for the wind but for the high temperatures, and that night it wasn’t an exception.

After some seconds the two vayrons noticed someone who was walking in their direction. The two reoseans, Grunt and Tsireya were side by side and in short they reached the other two.

“Are you ready?” asked Orion.

The other two nodded.

Her black and orange colors were matching the dark base coat of her companion, the phoenix boy with black stripes on the neck.

Orion giggled and Rindou lowered his fluffed ears. In short the four entered the arena and they looked at each other.

“I told you the challenge was today but the truth is that I had another idea” started to say Orion, nodding.

Thus he left the arena and he closed the metal gates with the help of Rindou.

“Tonight you’ll have to fight against each other. You worked together and now it’s time to demonstrate how strong you become” said the tobi puller.

He giggled, reaching his merle companion’s side.

Grunt didn’t talk at first, he wasn’t a really talkative vayron and he was ready to start the challenge even if that meant fighting against Tsireya. He showed his opponent his axe and he was determined to demonstrate to her how strong he was, even if they trained together.

“Let’s start!” he whispered.

The blotched tyrian looked at him with a firm grin and she shook her tail slowly. She worked so hard she couldn’t lose againsy her companion.

When she nodded, the two started the challenge.

“Are you sure you weren’t too evil with them?” whispered Rindou to Orion.

The puller grinned and giggled, shaking his head.

“Let’s see how far they can go” he said then.

Grunt and Tsireya ran forward until the tyrian flew in the air, moving the red sand around them. There was a slight illumination around, made by some torches but it was still a bit dark in the area.

Luckily the full moon on their heads was helping them, giving them also a terrific aura but, at the same time, a dreamy one. It was like, thanks to the soft light, the two shadows of the reoseans were dancing in the atmosphere.

Tsireya tried to hit the puller with her claws and for one second Rindou and Orion kept their breath. But they were sure the girl wasn’t so well intentioned to hit and wound her companion and she missed.

“What are you doing?” whispered Grunt.

He was almost shocked. He was sure she was a strong and proud warrior and she could do better than that.

Thus he used his axe to annoy the tyrian, moving the weapon in her direction and she stepped back after landing on the ground again.

“Don’t try to make fun of me!” she said, attacking again.

This time she touched Grunt’s skin but the vayron was faster and he dodged on a side. It was like a dance between two fighters who trained together and knew the fighting style of each other so well to dodge every single movement.

Grunt tried to hit Tsireya but he ended up pushing the weapon into the ground. It was evident at that point that both of them wanted to demonstrate their worth but they didn’t want to wound each other.

They moved fast and precisely but there wasn’t a true killing intention in their actions. They kept fighting for several minutes until they pushed forward at the same time.

The sand under their paws moved and was elevated from the plain ground and a small cloud of smoke almost entered their eyes.

“Oh no, I can’t see them so well” said Rindou, worried. “Do you think they’re okay?” he asked to Orion.

The pirate nodded, showing a large smile. Normally he wasn’t a serious vayron but there was a reason why he decided to do that small challenge.

He noticed he was right when he heard the sound of metal clashing and some growls coming from both the sides of the two opponents. Even if it was night, it was so hot for them that it wasn’t simple for them to fight in those conditions, but luckily they were born there and maybe they were a bit more used to it than other reoseans.

When Rindou saw the two coming out from the sandy cloud, he took a sigh of relief and stopped to worry.

“They’re so serious” he whispered.

The two fighters looked at each other for a few seconds. Grunt’s fur was almost shimmering under the soft light because of the reddish color on his neck that came out from a really dark base coat and the stripes.

On the other hand, Tsireya’s blotched marking left some spots to see the beautiful orange base and the light blue in some points made everything even more gorgeous in a mix of radiant colors. Her blue mouth then put another spot of beautiful color.

Orion took Rindou’s paw with his own and he looked at the merle runner.

“Maybe we should leave them here…” he whispered.

It seemed that the two warriors seemed more interested in a battle of glances now, rather than a true physical fight. Orion did know why but his companion seemed puzzled.

“Are you sure?” he asked.

The tobiano puller nodded and, in the end, the two vayrons walked slowly away, leaving the opponents alone. It seemed that the two didn’t notice them and they kept that battle going for a while.

In the end Orion didn’t tell them the rules, nor the final goal so at a certain point they sighed.

“Should we stop here?” asked Tsireya, smiling.

Grunt grinned. He didn’t reply at first but then he lowered his weapon again, ready to spend the rest of the night with his companion, rather than with his opponent.

She was special to him and he was special to her. The rest of the world and anything else didn’t matter.
