Jæger Yateveo lay on his back, bored out of his mind. There was never anything to do anymore, not since Vain had been killed.

Oh the kills those two commited together, the sugary sweetness that dripped from crushed sucre cores as life disappeared from a target's eyes. It was a shame that he took that solo mission… If only he had been there, he could’ve protected him.

“Yo yo, Jæger~ How's it hanging?”

He turned to see none other than Jesse, with his little minical Cassidy close behind, lugging in a large sack of something. He turned away with a sigh.

“Can’t you see I'm experiencing emotions?”

With a thud, the bag plopped next to him.

“Welp experience ‘em another time. We got some sucking up to do.”

“You need my help with that?”

Jesse narrowed his eyes at the slight before smuggly smiling.

“Ye, you got like triple the mouths.” with a wave of his hand he continued on more seriously, “‘Sides, it’s a new crime lord of the Golden Scales so we gotta both go introduce ourselves, gotta make sure we keep our position.”

Sitting up, Jæger opened the sack with one of his sets of hands, his eyes widening.

“Do I even want to know how you got these many sucre cores?”

“Less you know the better!” Cassidy giggled while Jesse shrugged.

“What? I had to sweet the load somehow, you can’t just some up empty handed ya know! It’s bad manners. I thought you’d know this, Jæger. But I'll give you a break, since you ‘ere experiencing emotion or whatever you were prattling about earlier.”

Jæger stood glaring at the young thief. “I hate you sometimes. Are you going to make me carry this?”

“You got more arms mate!” Jesse looked at him incredulously while Cassidy bounced down the hallway, “I’ll go get the ship warmed up!”

~~~~~~~~~~
The Golden Scale base was as clean and polished as Jæger had ever seen it; while it had never been a dirty place, the floor tiles were reflective now.
“They ‘eally gussied up the place huh? New guy must like looking at ‘imself!” Jesse chuckled at his joke but shushed as two people approached them.
Their matching uniforms looked rather spiffy, much like what poor old Vain would’ve worn…
One of them typed on their tablet, an annoyed expression on his face. “Geez, not only do you show up without an invitation, but you’re Sweetical too. Boss is going to have a field day with security… Come on let's go.” He sighed but motioned for them to follow them.
The other one waited until they started to walk then followed behind, closing off an escape route. The two sweetical shared a knowing look but continued to a waiting room where the man in front of them stopped, his bone structured tail swishing showing his annoyance.
“Wait here. Someone’ll get you when we’re ready for you.”
Before either two of the sweeticals could reply, the two people disappeared, one behind an armored door and the other back down the hallway.
Jesse shrugged, “Geez, some welcome yeah? The place looks nice but it’s cooooold.”
“You said it. Though I don't think they were ever very hospitable.”
Cassidy sighed while she and Jesse plopped down on the various furniture around the waiting room.
Jæger shrugged and put the sack of sucre cores down. “I’m more concerned with the fact that this new boss doesn’t seem to like sweeticals. Enough that their underlings will brazenly comment about it, in front of us.”
“Eh we’ll win ‘em over. Easy peasy. ‘Sides, just means we got less competition.”
It was always baffling that Jesse seemed to never be perturbed about anything…
Movement from the door opening drew Jæger’s attention.
A rather cute pastel winged being stepped through. They looked like they would be easy to just snap in half.
Their star pupiled eyes snapped to Jæger color constantly changing as they seemed to be able to read his mind.
“This way. Trigger will see you now”
They followed through the doors as a halo of stars and sparkles swirled around the winged being in front of them.
Jæger certainly was interested in seeing who was the new boss of this large and rather powerful crime ring.
As his eyes focused on them, he dropped the sack of cores and stared dumbfounded a moment before tackling Vain, causing everyone in the room to turn hostile.
“Stand down! Jæger! Get off me!” The familiar voice growled at him and Jæger followed his order.
“Vain! You’re alive! I could just kiss you!”
He bounced happily in place as Trigger sighed.
“Geez, you haven’t changed. Everyone out.”
The guards nodded and followed the orders although a minical sighed and didn’t budge though Trigger said nothing.
Jessestood quietly for once as Jæger squealed in happiness.
“I am so happy right now! Vain, how did you survive? Why didn’t you come back? I missed you oh so much!!”
“You’re still so high energy. I’m glad to see you’re well. I do go by Trigger now, not Vain.”
“Of course! Of course!” The excited sweetical purred while the yellow minical spoke up.
“So that’s one of your old teammates?”
“Yes, this is Jæger Yateveo. We worked together before I met you.”
The minical puffed out his chest. “Before ‘i met you’ i think you mean before I saved your life. But what’s got me really interested is just what is in that sack?”
Jæger grinned, “Ah, just a little gift of a few Sucre Cores that you can do whatever with, as a treat.” He winked at Trigger but it mostly went unnoticed due to his hair covering one of his eyes.
The cat minical rushed over to take a look. “Wholy Sweetiness!! There’s gotta be at least a hundred in here!”
“That is quite a gift, Limon-Blu. Do with it what you want.”
Limon-Blu’s eyes sparkled thinking of all the possibilities.
Jæger shifted shyly. “Uhh Trigger, could I stay for a while? I want to catch up with you…”
Jesse sighed, “Seriously? Fine, do what you want I guess.”
Trigger chuckled, “You really havent changed. You two are welcome to stay here as long as you like. I’ll make sure you’re given access to room and board.”
Jesse nodded, “Sounds good, I'm off to get food while you two love birds catch up.”
He and Cassidy then left while Jæger blushed.
“We.. We aren’t love birds!!”
Although, the thought certainly was tempting and Jæger couldn’t honestly say this was the first time he had thought of it…
