Hazardous Expeditions- PA Quest (Khanivore)

Large footsteps could be heard moving across the ash build up, smushing the ash as their weight shifted with each stride. Orange irises scanned the black ashes looking for any movement, the large carnivore's tail swinging behind it as it walked. The lava flows were hot and the heat was unbearable for most of the wildlife that inhabited the islands. Khanivore a large female Albertosaurus made her home here loving the heat and habitat it provided for her. Today seemed hotter than usual, the lava pools giving lots of heat off her dark scales. She stopped crushing the rubble under her feet as she stopped sniffing the ashy ground, ash flying around from her large inhales.

Her orange irises scanned the heated lands as she kept continuing on deeper into the lava flows. Larger lava pools scattered across the grounds as she walked carefully navigating the tough terrain. She let out a low growl as hot ashes hit her scales on her nose making her sneeze, Khanivore normally tracked herds who dared made their way through the ashed lands. Khanivore seemed to not be able to find anything today causing her to travel deeper into the lava flows further than she ever had been. As she traveled deeper into the hotter area’s the heat began to become more noticeable for the large carnivore, her feet getting slightly burned from the lava rocks. Khanivore looked at the large towering black rocks lining the wastelands, they stood tall and towered over her, coming to a large bridge overhang as they met together from each side. She walked under the overpass of rocks seeing rubble fall every once in a while, not budging her attention on the look for prey.

Khanivore let out a large rumbly growl from her teeth as she walked past spewing lava pools. The heat getting intense, Khanivore stopped looking at the lava pool as it spewed upwards lava splashing everywhere against the black terrain. “ Weird..” she said, narrowing her eyes looking down at the dried plant life she had been stepping on. The plant life was dried out everywhere due to the extreme heat of the lava flows, and nothing could be seen growing ever out here. No plant life whatsoever could be seen and if it was dried out, the large carnivore soon stopped at a large wall of volcanic rock. She rubbed up against it scratching her itchy scales as they soon began bugging her slightly. Rubble and ash came off the wall as she kept scratching her irritated scales on her back.

Khanviore soon grumbled before shaking herself to get her scales to not feel irritated anymore, the heat now really causing them to feel like they were burning. “ What's with the heat today..” she snapped at floating ash that landed near her snout. A large lava pool sat far off bubbling loudly, the orange bubbles popping as it came to the surface to let the trapped air out. As the large carnivore made her way past them she was unaware of the danger she was doing by just walking in the ashy environment. As she walked the radiated ash stirred floating around the air causing the contaminants to coat her more without her realizing. Khanviore began to feel a dizziness causing her head to hurt, making her lose balance. Before catching herself shaking her large head to refocus on where she was walking.

She finally picked out a scent , followed by lightly imprinted footsteps in the ash.  Her orange pupils studied them to figure out the direction they were heading, not focusing on the side effects she was feeling due to being in the environment along with the intense heat. Her hunger started getting to her, causing her stomach to rumble. To begin to follow the lightly dusted footprints ignoring the heat walking past the bubbling lava pools that lay in craters in the ground. After walking for a while the footprints began to fade, khanivore with her nose to the ground trying to find and sniff the possible prey out. White bones lay buried in the black ashes , it was a large herbivore that had seemed to have not made it far and met an unfortunate fate, Khanivore leaned down sniffing the bones moving them with her muzzle taking in all the scents that may rest on them. She took a big breath before exhaling out, stirring up more ashes, the bones were a pale white showing that they were older but not too old. She growled narrowing her eyes scanning the area again before feeling a hot ooze coat her side, letting out a large painful roar.

The large lava pool bubbles had let out a large pocket of air and caused it to explode slightly, the lava splatter hitting Khanivore on the side. The hot ooze coated her dark scales causing a burning sensation that was very painful, Khanivore roared loudly jumping back trying to shake off the splatter. She slammed into the volcanic rock wall, rocks falling and hitting the large carnivore in the side before looking up and seeing a large rock before seeing black. She collapsed falling into the bed of ash, more stirring up around her before setting back down. The ash was contaminated with an unknown substance and the large carnivore was unaware of the dangers she was now in due to it stirring up from her fall.

Khanivore slowly regained consciousness , her orange eyes springing open. She let out a painful growl before slowly finding her footing under her again, the dizziness returning and her eyesight was blurred. She had been laying there in the intense heat and the contaminated ash and the side effects had now kicked in full drive. Stumbling as she stood up shaking her head trying to regain her focus but nothing was working for the large carnivore. Khanivore tried making her way down the rocky terrain from the way she came, her vision going in and out trying to use her nose to keep her inline. More of the lava pools began letting out large amounts of gas, more eruptions made their way to the surface of the lava flows. She knew she had to keep moving and push past her vision being impaired as it began to heat up more intensely.

As she kept moving the side effects worsened paired with the extreme heat, Kharnivores leg began to feel wobbly underneath her weight. The burn on her side began to painfully spread throughout her body, as she moved her skin tightening as she walked. The stirred up ash was way worse now due to the rupturing lava pools, she snarled at the heat stumbling as she continued to make her way out of the lava flows. A large pool was bubbling and khanivore was heading straight for it, not aware of it due to her vision being blurred. Large bubbles formed at the surface preparing to let out a large gas pocket, khanivore was almost past it as she felt hot steam hit her scales. The large pocket finally giving out a burst of steam, she snarled before pushing through and past it steam engulfing the entrance to the lava flows. Khanivore came rushing out tumbling over her wobbly legs, going head over heels rolling on the ground, wincing at the pain from the side effects she endured. She slowly opened her eyes laying at the entrance of the lava flows seeing the steam and ash that was stirred up blocking the pathway.  The side effects seemed to start going away as soon as she was away from the heat and contaminated ashes, she turned looking at the large burn and that lay across her side. Khanivore licked her wounds as her eyes began to turn back to normal, turning her attention back to the lava flows pathway.

“Something was off in there … the heat was insane” she mumbled looking back at her burn. Her scales still felt  super tight due to the damage that had been done recently from the lava pool splatters. She shook off the heated pain from her side and mumbled before standing up, she growled before looking around. She wanted to get further away from this place not wanting anymore burns , the ash floating and laying on the ground behind her as she left footprints In the dirt.

The lava flow is still bubbling and popping under the pressure,  the heat pulsing at the pathway from the lava flows. More ash stirred within the lava flow as the large carnivore had stirred it up due to her heavy weight while she traveled the lava flow. Now that she had left and due to the erupting pools, something was in the Ash that caused dangerous side effects to wildlife and it didn’t matter what size. A large carnivore such like a albertosaurus was even at risk , so she couldn’t Imagine how it was affecting everything else. Khanivore looked back once more before returning to the safety of the trees.
