"What's an 'easter'?" Pelegrin asked as the party came out of the forest.

Three of the four flitz had baskets full of flowers in their shadowy hands, while Pelegrin just danced around them, enjoying nature.

"It's a tradition!" said Tyrique; the maned flit's sing-song voice showed his excitement for the upcoming event. "We do it every year and it's always so much fun!"

Pelegrin hopped in front of the flit, stopping him in his tracks. "Okay, but what is it about? If it's so much fun, I wanna know more!"
Dindel sighed with a smile on his face. The young flit's curiosity never bothered him, unlike Tyrique's. For some reason or another, when Ty asked about stuff he didn't understand, he usually got on his nerves pretty quickly. Maybe it was the way he was asking?
He looked at Cigryd. When the bard nodded, he said:
"Listen here, Pelegrin. Cigryd's going to tell you a story."
The young flit's shadowy eyes lit up with delight. He quickly made his way to his friend and, along with the others, sat down in front of him.

"Khm" started Cigryd, "Listen here, all young and old, for I am about to share a tale with you. A tale so ancient, a story so old,
This is something our elders passed down to us with hopes of us keeping this legend alive for as long as we're alive.
This is the story of East and Terr, the brave heroes who defeated the mighty monster Bunnho.

"It was the year dates-don't-matter-now. Every year, in the village of Avar, they sent three flitz and their masters to a cave in which a horrible monster lived. They were meant as sacrifices so the horrible thing wouldn't come and eat them.
But one year, a strong and brave flit, who went by the name East, and his master, Terr, volunteered to go inside, all by themselves!
The village didn't think this to be a good idea; they said the creature will not be happy when it saw only the two of them. But the brave flit and his master reassured them, and so inside the cave they went.
A horrible stench filled their noses as they entered. It was so dark inside, darker than the darkest of nights!"

"Even darker than inside my cave?!"

"Much, MUCH darker! As they went deeper and deeper inside, they started hearing a faint noise that was like someone grumbling right beside their ears.
When the sound couldn't grow any louder, Terr lit a torch he brought with him. What they saw before them sent a shiver down their spines...

"A huge, furry monster lay before them on the ground. It's pelt as pink and white as a tulip's petals and as thick as two bears' fur. One could have mistaken it for a huge ball of blood lily, were it not for the head that slowly emerged from under the thick fur. Oval shaped with strong edges, the head of the creature looked horrifying; its nose looked like a deer's, its mouth was drooling, two huge beady eyes as dark as pitch decorated the top half, and its ears were as big as its head! The creature's smell can only be described as death mixed with chocolate and rotten eggs...
When it saw our two brave heroes, the monster lifted a paw and reached towards them!
But they were quicker than it! East jumped and his master dodged, both getting out of harms way for a moment. But the monster was quick: as soon as our two heroes' feet touched the ground, it raised its paw again and tried to strike Terr!
He dodged it again, but then he suddenly had an idea. Terr called for the flit. When East looked at him, he tossed him the torch and told him to set fire to the nightmarish thing's pelt while he distracted it.
East didn't hesitate; as soon as he saw his friend start jumping around the monster, he grabbed the torch and lit the beast's fluffy tail on fire!
It spread quickly, but the two had to escape fast before the smoke filled the cave!

"East and Terr got out safely. The village celebrated their victory with a festival they named "Easter". Word has spread about them and the festival and soon, people and flitz outside the village celebrated it as well, if they couldn't make it there."

Pelegrin looked confused. "But why did they do it? Why did others celebrate it?"

Ty was quick to answer: "Because it's fun, of course!"

"Hmm... And why the egg collecting? You didn't say a thing about it!"

The songfilch shrugged. "They say it was East and Terr's favorite game to play, so of course the celebration included it." explained Cigryd as he stood up. "Speaking of which, we should really get back to the village, Allan is waiting for the flowers we've collected!"

The four flitz started making their way back to Marehn.
The early morning dew still sparkled on the grass and leaves, as did Tyrique's mane, as the sun's fresh rays slowly poked out from above the nearby mountain.
When they arrived at the town, the four flitz headed to Allan; despite being quite young, the boy had an amazing skill at decorating.
They gave him the flowers, then went to walk around the town, waiting for the celebration to start.
