September 2023, week 2
Leir looked towards the entrance of the corn maze, while he elected to stay behind and watch everyone’s snacks, his sister and her partner wanted to check out the corn maze. Or more correctly, Beverly wanted to check out the corn maze, Rohan already checked it out at least 3 times before they all met up together at the fair.
While it could of only been about 10 minutes since they left, that amount of time seems odd given Rohan has already gotten through it, unless he forgot in the span of them meeting up and walking back to the corn maze, there should of been no reason for Beverly and Rohan to be gone for so long.
If only Leir knew.
Beverly didn’t want her hand held during the maze, she asked Rohan to stay back by the beginning of the entrance and just give her some time on her own so she could explore it, and she’ll yell for him if she really needed his help. What she didn’t expect was to realize her sense of direction was beyond awful and her head start just led to her being utterly and hopelessly lost in the maze. It seemed like she forgot how lost she would get and still sometimes gets on campus, as now walking through the pathways either looked like where she came from, where she went, or led to a dead end, all of it looked exactly the same and there was no way for her to tell where she was going or even where she was.
It feels like she hasn’t seen anyone else in the maze for ages, either they’ve gotten out already or they were further ahead of her to the point she couldn’t even think to trail after them. At a stand still and unsure of where to go she decided throwing in the towel would be a better option than living between the rows of corn, she only had to yell once or twice before she suddenly walked straight into Rohan.
“Oh!,” she exclaimed, she didn’t expect Rohan to show up so quickly since she has been wandering by herself for some time now, “How did you get here so fast?”
Rohan squinted at her, clearly confused and maybe even dumbstruck by her question, it’s not a face she’s used to seeing from him, maybe more used to giving it. “..Bev you are like, 3 turns away from the entrance?,” What. There was no way, it felt like she was wandering around forever. “You must have been walking around in a circle in here, I thought you’d get on further since it’s been like 13 minutes, your brother probably thinks I got us lost or somethin’.” Beverly didn’t know what to say, she felt embarrassed knowing she was just walking back and forth and spinning herself back around into a dead end for 13 minutes. There was a silence, before Rohan continued seeing she was standing there looking flustered, “Do you want me to lead then?” A pause, before she responded “Yeah.. that’d be for the best.”
