“You know I can’t cook!” Charmie complained as his boyfriends pulled him along to Haru’s kitchen. “Of course we do! But we wanted to help Lieutenant out so… looks like you gotta do it anyway!” Eiro giggled as he continued to yank lightly on his much larger boyfriend’s paw. “If you don’t want to be here you don’t have to you know.” Haru put in from where they were carrying the groceries their group had picked up to make the Chocolate Hazelnut Bread Bombs that Cicada and Eiro had stumbled across a week or so ago and had not stopped talking about since. “Pshhh, yeah I’m gonna bake with you guys.” Charmie rolled his eyes mostly to avoid looking at the pupea eyes his boyfriends were giving him. “Well, before we start there are a few rules to be able to be in my kitchen,” Haru handed their tote bag to Penny, their caker spaniel that did really well in the bakery kitchen, possibly due to being half strawberry cake or perhaps just to make Haru happy. “Wash your paws, obviously, NO magic unless you can’t help it,” They reassured Charmie who had frowned in worry at that rule. “If you break a glass do not touch it. I can clean it up, it’s ok! Finally, this is baking, not cooking, follow the recipe if you want it to be even a little bit good! I know you three aren’t chemists, don’t try to cut corners, ok? We have everything we need, I made sure of it.” They smiled at the three of them before clapping their claws together. “Alright sprouts! Wash those paws!” “We aren’t sprouts anymore.” Cicada grumbled as they all ambled over to take turns washing their paws in the kitchen sink. “Just because you are technically adults now doesn’t change that you weren’t even THINKING of sprouting when I started this bakery kiddo.” Haru ruffled Cicada’s ponytail as he dried his paws before washing their own paws. “Alright sprouts,” Haru started taking the different ingredients out and sorting them on the counter. “Eiro, you and Charmie are gonna work on the dough while Cicada and I do the filling.” “Sweet!” Eiro pumped his paw in the air before he and Charmie grabbed a bowl each and began combining the dry ingredients in one bowl while Charmie added the wet ingredients together according to the recipe. After finally combining both bowls together, Eiro spread a layer of flour on the wooden cutting board section of the countertop and Charmie slapped the amount of dough already made on top, causing an explosion of the fine white powder all over both of their faces and Penny who had been sitting nearby overseeing their endeavors. Far too many sneezes and Eiro getting extremely excited with rolling the dough out. Finally, both groups were done, and they all worked together to roll the sweet chocolatey filling into sections of the dough and put them into the preheated oven. Another long hour later and the dough bombs are finally out. Haru places them on a cooling rack to take to Lieutenant later. As soon as they turned their head just a little bit though Charmie grabbed one of the burning hot loaves and he and his boyfriends rush out giggling to eat elsewhere, not that Haru tried very hard to capture them. It was nice to be young.
