In a world of magical prowess, Mimi and Thaumathor connect over a "bone-net" instant messenger, bonding over their shared interests and vulnerabilities. Their digital camaraderie blossoms into a real-world connection at a potion market, and as they grow closer, they embark on a quest to craft a potion that would let them share and explore Mimi's vivid dreams together.

Please note: This is meant as a fun spin-off to fit the theme of Gaidinia's October writing! It's not in any way 'canon' to Mimi and Thaumathor's relationship. Though it is very cute!

In a dim room where magical artifacts lined the shelves, Mimi's screen brightened. A new message popped up on her "bone-net" instant messenger app.

BoneWitchMimi: "Hey there! I think we met at the potion supplies market today. Were you the one with the unique potion recipe?"

On the other side of the screen, Thaumathor, nestled in his wilderness abode, waited for his unstable connection to load the message. Surrounding him were vials of various colors, brewing pots, and dried herbs hanging from the ceiling.

PotionBrewerThor: "Yes, that was me! And you had those unique white and blue snakes for hair. Quite a look! How's the market treating you?"

Mimi twirled a snake around her finger as she read, her face lit up with a smile. The snake seemed to hiss approvingly at the message.

BoneWitchMimi: "The market's been great! So many new supplies this year. By the way, your potion seemed interesting. Do you often craft your own?"

Thaumathor hesitated before typing. While he loved his craft, his remote location made it hard to share his passion. With a sigh, he started to type a response.

PotionBrewerThor: "Yeah, I live quite deep in the wilderness, so I end up experimenting a lot. But the downside is my bone-net connection. It's... unpredictable."

Just as he hit 'send', his screen froze. Mimi waited on the other side, occasionally refreshing her chat, wondering if Thaumathor got her message. She could feel her heart rate picking up; their conversation was going so well!

Suddenly, her screen flashed.

PotionBrewerThor: "Sorry, got disconnected. As I was saying, I love brewing custom potions. Do you practice any specific magic?"

BoneWitchMimi: "I love bone magic! I can tell from your username that you do too. It's such a fascinating art form, don't you think?"

PotionBrewerThor: "Absolutely! I've always been drawn to it. So, how did you come across bone magic?"

BoneWitchMimi: "Funny story! I was always intrigued by it, but one day, a bone mage needed help. I stepped up, pretending to be brave, but I was terrified! Turned out well, though. I ended up learning so much!"

PotionBrewerThor: "That's so like me! I once tried to impress a senior brewer by crafting a complex potion. Pretended to be confident, but inside... pure panic."

Mimi giggled, her snakes swaying with her laughter. She felt a connection forming between them, the kind that's rare, especially in a world dominated by magical prowess.

BoneWitchMimi: "It's nice to meet someone who gets it. Being brave isn't always about not feeling fear, right?"

PotionBrewerThor: "Exactly! Bravery is about facing the fear head-on. So, do you think we could meet in person? Maybe at the next potion market?"

The proposition caught Mimi off guard. Her snakes tensed, sensing her anxiety. After a few moments, she typed a reply.

BoneWitchMimi: "I'd love to! And maybe, this time, we won't need to hide behind our screens or our pretend bravery."

Thaumathor's heart raced. His shaky internet connection had led to many missed opportunities, but this was one conversation he was glad he pursued.

PotionBrewerThor: "I'll look forward to it. Till then, keep being your wonderful self. Both the brave and the timid sides."

BoneWitchMimi: "Same to you, brave brewer of the wild. Chat soon!"

The chat window closed, but the connection between Mimi and Thaumathor was just beginning to brew. They both leaned back, the light from their screens reflecting the promise of a new, magical bond.

ā€”Some Time Laterā€”

Months had passed since their digital interaction, and the two had grown closer, not just through bone-net messages but also with letters filled with dried herbs and tiny potion samples. The annual potion market was just a week away, and the excitement bubbled in both their hearts.

Mimi found herself in her room, surrounded by parchment, quills, and her white and blue snakes, which seemed more animated than usual. A new message notification rang.

PotionBrewerThor: "Just a week to go! Have you thought about our meet-up?"

She grinned, her snakes hissing in tune with her heartbeat.

BoneWitchMimi: "Every day! Do you think reality can be as magical as our digital realm?"

PotionBrewerThor: "If it isn't, we'll just have to brew it that way! By the way, I made a new potion. I call it 'Nervous Excitement.' Want to try it?"

Mimi giggled.

BoneWitchMimi: "Only if you're having some too! Sounds like the perfect concoction for our upcoming rendezvous."

The days moved swiftly. Thaumathor was in his forest dwelling, meticulously packing potions and ingredients for the market. Every now and then, he'd come across a special vial or herb and think, "Mimi might like this."

The day of the market dawned. As Mimi approached the familiar bustling stalls, her snakes danced with excitement. She felt an electrifying mix of nervousness and anticipation. Then, among the stalls, she spotted him ā€“ Thaumathor, with his unique collection of potions. Their eyes met, and the world around them seemed to blur.

"Hey," he greeted, his voice a soft rumble. "It's finally good to see you... in more than just pixels."

She smiled, "And you. I was half-expecting you to buffer in real life, given your connection issues."

He laughed, "I promise, no loading screens today." Then, with a sly grin, he added, "Though, if I do freeze, it might just be because of your stunning presence."

She blushed, her snakes mimicking her by turning a shade pinker. "Oh, smooth! I didn't take you for such a charmer in real life."

He shrugged playfully, "I've learned from the best. Which, by the way, have you seen the stall that sells charm-enhanced roses? I think one of those would look perfect with your hair."

Mimi's heart raced. "Are you trying to woo me with magical roses now?"

Thaumathor pretended to ponder this. "Maybe. Is it working?"

She leaned closer, her voice a playful whisper. "Maybe. But what would seal the deal is if you show me that 'Nervous Excitement' potion you promised."

He nodded and reached below his stall, producing a shimmering vial filled with swirling golden and blue liquid. "For you," he said, handing it to her.

She uncorked it, took a whiff, and her eyes widened. "It smells like... the forest after rain, but also like a fresh parchment. How?"

He shrugged. "It's based on the emotions I felt while chatting with you. A mix of the familiar and the unknown."

Mimi felt a warmth spread in her chest. "Should we...?"

Together, they each took a sip. A tingling sensation spread through them. They felt a rush of giddiness, anxiety, and an overwhelming feeling of closeness.

"Wow," Mimi whispered, her eyes shining.

"Yeah," Thaumathor echoed, reaching out to tuck a stray snake behind her ear. His fingers lingered, brushing her cheek. "I've waited a long time for this."

The day went by in a whirlwind. They explored stalls together, laughing at the quirkiest of items, sharing their magical experiences, and even stealing moments for soft, lingering touches.

As the market began to wind down, Thaumathor turned to Mimi. "There's a spot deep in the woods, where wildflowers bloom even in the night. Would you... like to see it?"

Mimi didn't need to think. "Lead the way."

In a clearing illuminated by moonlit flowers, Thaumathor and Mimi sat close, the world around them a mere whisper. Thaumathor plucked a luminous flower and tucked it behind Mimi's ear, his fingers brushing her skin.

"You light up my world," he whispered, his gaze intense.

Mimi leaned in, her voice soft, "Then let's make magic together."

And as their lips met, the world around them shimmered, echoing the magic of their newfound love.

ā€“The Following Dayā€“

Thaumathor, in his rustic dwelling deep in the forest, felt a mix of excitement and frustration. The annual market day had been fantastic, and the bond he felt with Mimi was beyond words. But here, amidst the trees and isolation, technology often proved a challenge. The bone-net connection was particularly irksome.

He started by restarting the ancient wooden modem carved with runes. The blue and green lights flickered, teasing him with brief moments of connectivity before dying out. He sighed. "Why now? Of all times," he murmured.

Next, he tried chanting a rejuvenation spell over the modem, hoping to boost its power. Blue sparks danced around it for a moment, and thenā€¦ nothing. No connection.

He remembered an old potion recipe he'd read somewhere - "Elixir of Enhanced Connectivity." It was a long shot, but worth a try. Quickly, he gathered the ingredients - spider silk, a pinch of cloud dust, and a drop of morning dew. He brewed the potion and poured a few drops over the modem.

To his surprise, the lights on the modem stabilized, glowing strong and steady. Thaumathor let out a sigh of relief. "Finally!" he exclaimed. Eagerly, he opened his bone-net messenger app, anticipating the deep conversations that awaited with Mimi.

The afterglow of their day together still lingered when Mimi found herself back in her dim room, staring at her bone-net messenger app. Her fingers hesitated over the keys, then began to type.

BoneWitchMimi: "I can't believe how enchanting yesterday was. It felt like a dream!"

In his forest dwelling, Thaumathor read the message, his heart echoing her sentiments.

PotionBrewerThor: "I agree. It was surreal, like a potion-infused reality. I couldn't have asked for a better day, or a better companion to share it with."

Mimi smiled, her snakes curling affectionately around her fingers as she typed.

BoneWitchMimi: "I'm glad we met. I feel like there's so much more to learn about you. For instance, do you have any dreams or desires you've never shared with anyone?"

PotionBrewerThor: "Hmm, dreams... Well, ever since I delved into potion-making, I've dreamt of crafting a potion that captures the essence of the universeā€”its beauty, mystery, everything. But it's always been just a dream. What about you? Any dreams you'd like to share?"

Mimi hesitated for a moment. She'd always been hesitant about sharing this particular part of herself. But something about Thaumathor made her feel safe and understood.

BoneWitchMimi: "You promise not to laugh? My dreams, the ones I have when I sleep, are so vivid and fantastic. I travel to unknown realms, converse with cosmic entities, and witness phenomena that words can't describe. Sometimes, I wish I could share those experiences with someone."

Thaumathor read her words, fascination filling him.

PotionBrewerThor: "That sounds incredible! I'd love to witness those dreams. Perhaps... Well, this might sound audacious, but I've been working on a potion recently. It's the most complicated one I've ever attempted. It's meant to allow two people to share a dream. Maybe, just maybe, we could try it together?"

Mimi's eyes widened in amazement.

BoneWitchMimi: "That sounds both thrilling and terrifying! To let someone into my dream world... But if it's with you, I think I'd like to try. How long have you been working on this potion?"

PotionBrewerThor: "Months, actually. The idea came to me when I realized how isolated I was in my forest home. The potion requires some extremely rare ingredients. I've managed to find most of them, but the last one eludes meā€”a star's whisper."

Mimi gasped.

BoneWitchMimi: "A star's whisper? That's... I've only read about it in ancient magical texts. But I'm sure together, we can find it. I'd love to help!"

PotionBrewerThor: "That means a lot to me. With you by my side, I feel like we can achieve anything. Once we find it, we can try the potion. I'm excited and, truth be told, a bit nervous about diving into this uncharted territory with you."

Mimi felt a warmth spread through her.

BoneWitchMimi: "I trust you, Thaumathor. And the idea of exploring my dream world with you fills me with anticipation. Speaking of dreams, I've always dreamt of dancing under the stars. Maybe, after we try your potion, we could make that dream a reality too?"

Thaumathor's heart raced at the thought.

PotionBrewerThor: "A dance of dreams followed by a dance under the stars? I can't think of anything more magical. I'd be honored, Mimi."

The two continued their conversations late into the night, delving deeper into their aspirations, fears, and hopes. Each message, each shared secret, wove their lives closer together, strengthening the bond that had sparked between them.

Both Mimi and Thaumathor knew they stood on the cusp of something beautifulā€”a shared journey of love, magic, and dreams. And as they signed off for the night, the promise of shared dreams and starlit dances lingered in the ether, waiting to be fulfilled.
