Covered in a veil of shadow, Ranvier was making a rare appearance in the castle to a player that had managed to sneak their way in without fighting a single monster or servant. Considering how long his game existed for, constantly being updated to match the skills and level range of all the patches, this was an impressive feat. As well as a clear sign he needed to make some adjustments for a new high level player using their brain rather than just brawn.

Atop his throne, his golden eyes glowed with a wave of his hand, "Queen to C three." A tiny piece moved across the tiles, smashing a knight to pixels as it took its place. Thinking it a shame there was no reward for making it to the top of the castle, much less without harming any of the residents, Ranvier had taken it upon himself to create one. Hidden from the player's vision, they played a game of chess with the promise of him fulfilling any single wish within his power should they win. The board looked to be in the player's favor, but narrowing his eyes at their smirk from his last move, he knew all too well that was about to change.

"Check!" They called out, capturing his queen. Apparently feeling victory in the air, Ranvier squashed such foolish hopes, not even keeping up his theatrics as he waved his bishop into place. "A pity, but I had an enjoyable time. Checkmate." Getting their rook out of the way was all he needed to secure the win for himself, and his queen had made a tasty bait for such. "While you can work hard to save your friends, harder to save the world, do remember if you manage to make your way here again, it's best to make sacrifices in chess." With a snap of his fingers, the player was forcefully recalled back to town.
