There was no more running, the full-moon beasts had caught up to him. Their shreeking, laughing howls surrounded him, and he could feel the sharp pang of adrenaline course up his spine like electricity. His hackles raised and bristled and he snarled, baring his teeth in the shadows. Though the moon was full, it was still too dark to see the creatures that surrounded him. He felt one breeze close to him, and he snapped his jaws wildly in its direction, hoping to catch anything in his teeth. As he did, he glimpsed it. A fleshy and pale contorted creature, with lips drawn back into a horrible sneer and long, glimmering teeth.

Negan backed away instinctively in panic, his body colliding with another of the creatures. It screeched at him in it's horrible laugh and backed away before aiming a swipe at him of its clawed gnarled paws. The creature wasn't quite as large as Negan, and it missed its mark. Negan whipped around and lunged at it, this time his teeth making purchase into the smooth skin of the moon beast. It yelped out in pain and Negan's jaws clamped down harder. He shook the creature with all of his strength. It tried to pull away, dragging Negan with it, but he didn't let go. Another of the creatures tackled him, sinking its horrid claws into Negan's flanks.

Negan growled in fury and shook the creature again, this time feeling flesh tear away from bone. The creature screamed in pain and managed to break away from Negan. His quarry escaped, Negan then turned to the beast on his back. He threw himself against the ground, braking its grip, and immediately was on top of it. This time he had a clear line to its face. He latched his jaws around the thing's skull with enough force to crush it. The creature immediately fell still.

The shadows around Negan churned and laughed, many of the creatures still surrounding him. His flank was bleeding, though luckily not too badly, but he was so tired. He listened intently for any noise that would indicate the movements of the creatures, and before long he could hear one break away and attempt to lunge at him. He whipped around to face it but he was too slow, and the creature was on top of him. It clung on with all four of its paws, squarely on top of Negan's frame. With a laugh, it buried its fangs into the back of Negan's neck. The blinding, red-hot pain coursed down Negan's body and he roared in pain. Though his thick mane was able to buffer some of the depth of the beast's teeth, the venom would still be entering Negan's bloodstream. He didn't have a lot of time to end this.

Negan threw himself on his back again, this time crushing the beast that had bitten him. It didn't attempt to get back up. Desperate, Negan lashed out at the shadows, managing to catch one of them with his claws. It yelped but managed to escape Negan's grapple. Negan could feel his vision start to cloud. He slashed out again, managing to throw one to the ground. Its jaws snapped loudly as it tried to bite down on Negan's leg, but a bite to its head quieted it. The laughter of the shadows began to turn to a concerned murmur. Negan continued to lash out again and again, though few of his attacks landed. He was starting to black out, but refused to go down.

At last, the beasts dispersed. They had suffered too many casualties for this hunt to be worth it anymore, and went to seek easier prey. Negan stood with the bodies around him, exhausted and swaying with venom. The moment their cackles faded into the distance, Negan collapsed.
