Mabell will be missing summer for sure! As soon as she saw the first leaf turning orange, felt the first gust of cold wind, she knew autumn has arrived and that she wouldn't be at peace until spring came around the corner. She wasn't the kind of pacapillar to like autumn. Mabell only liked spring and summer "the two perfect seasons, the only twos we trully need!" as she would often say to her friends. They didn't really knew why Mabell didn't liked autumn and winter so much. Maybe it was because of her short fur that wouldn't help her to not freeze outside, or maybe it was simply because she liked to be upset about anything. Her pet Squacky was hanging out with her, following his friend closely.

On this special day, Mabell had decided to clean her backyard before the cold wind got too harsh. If it was too cold outside she wouldn't have been able to hold her rake or even put her colorful protection on her most delicate and fragile flowers! It was still sunny, probably the last time before a while, and she gathered up some courage to go out. A small breeze lifted the multiples covers in her paws, but nothing too bad. She walked confidently toward the part of her backyard that had a greenhouse. As soon as she closed the glass door, the warmth of the room embraced her like a good friend.

- I'll take a look at the glass pannels to make sure none is defective! And I'll give my precious flowers some more compost.

The purple and blue paca executed herself. She stared at every glass pannels that were up on the roof, and locked the ones that could open toward the outside like windows. She paid extra attention to make sure the locks weren't broken or about to break, as she knew that any cold wind could destroy her precious plantations. Among her flowers some of them were very rare in this part of the world and required a lot of time and dedication, but most importantly they required heat. This is why Mabell had decided to build a greenhouse right next to her cottage. The compost bin was at the back of the room and after gathering what she thought was a good amount, she gently gave some of this nutriment rich soil to her plants. Some of them got more than others, but only because she knew how to take care of them. Squacky was mostly interested in the compost and had somehow managed to poor some on himself.

After contemplating her work for a bit, she decided it was time to go back home. The purple and blue paca turned around, and as she was about to leave the greenhouse, it suddenly became completely dark. Squacky was just as surprised as Mabell, and began making anxious noises while looking around them.

- Oh my! What is this? What's happening?

Mabell looked above her at the sky and was surprised when her eyes met a bunch of orange and red leaves. The roof was covered in them! How was it possible? She had cleared her backyard of most of the dead leaves about a week ago. Then, she remembered something. In her neighborhood, one of the inhabitant had refused to clean their parcell of the large amount of leaves that was resting in their frontyard. Mabell's face turned red, she was furious! With a glance at her flowers, she understood that they needed the sun's light, and quick. She rush outside the greenhouse and grabbed the rake that was resting next to the door. Squacky was starring at her doing her thing, his anxiety becoming more and more important. He knew Mabell would have done anything for her flowers, and he knew too that she wasn't aware of the risk she was taking sometimes. She tried to remove the dead leaves from the roof but she was too small to be able to remove them all. A good bunch of them had already fallen on the ground, and when a couple touched Mabell's back she yelled in frustration. This would have never happened if her neighbor was respecting the rules!

Her thoughts were quickly moving inside her head, and her eyes were moving between the leaves and the decaying flowers inside the greenhouse. Mabell rushed over to her house, and grabbed the wooden latter that was resting in her cellar. It was hard to move around because of the size of it, but she managed to get it out of the cottage and against the greenhouse's wall. She quickly climbed up there and removed the leaves, a new pile of dead leaves appearing right underneath her. She was so furious and mad at her neighbor that her gesture was quick and she wasn't really paying attention at her strenght. Suddenly, the latter moved! She had been too harsh with the rake and her pushed the latter from the wall, and it was now oscillating in the empty space, the purple and blue paca hanging onto the last step of the ladder. It was no surprise that the ladder fell to the ground - and the paca that was holding on to it too. Fortunately, Mabell ended up jumping in the leaf pile. She was safe! This scared little duck ran over to her and hugged her, glad that his friend was okay.
