THE STORM SPHERE

Ramman Summons A Storm

Several hours had passed since Ramman was knocked out of the air – the Crone had spotted an opportunity and Ramman was sent tumbling to the soft and fertile earth. Thankfully for Ramman, he was able to avoid certain peril as another, Anjali, had come to his defence. She was a light bringer, just like Ramman was, so proving effective in battle.

Ramman had heard some murmurings of someone fitting this description. As Ramman had spent longer in Faline and around The Mar, the sooner did he learn of the members and their entanglements. There was no denying this one, Anjali was tied to the one called Jezabelle. Jezabelle hardly spoke, but she had let a few things slip about the spark weaver. Ramman smiled, and after a handshake and a pat on the back shared between them, they were both off again.

With the Crones attention turned to another group of mages, Ramman began his work to summon a storm. The concept seemed simple enough; to focus on the currents all around and somehow channel them. Atmospheric pressure to give way to explosive bursts of energy. The how to do it? that required innovation.

Ramman focused on his energy within, and then the combined energy around him – the electrochemical pulses were surely in the other mages too? Surely this beast also had its own energetic currents within. He had not tried such an enormous attack before – especially not since his corruption. Within himself arcs of energy began to rise, and he focused on the prickles that were under his skin. As the feeling grew, arcs of lighting began to reach and emerge from other mages and bounce around the Crone.

If Ramman kept his focus, the electric current would not harm the others.

A screech from the Crone clawed at his heart, and as tears streamed down Rahman’s face, he did his best to withstand. As more and more arcs of lightning grew in strength and number, it seemed the surroundings were too reacting; wind was picking up and clouds seemed to grow in number around the Crone.

A storm brewed.

It was first a stillness, then a deep bluey green light seemed to wash over the landscape. Apart from the Crones wails and strikes, the area around stilled, and the trees eerily loosened some of their leaves. To those flying they would feel the chill in the air and the air becoming fatter.

Silence first, then the wind began to rush faster and faster. It swirled around the crone and seemed to pull storm clouds towards it. Ramman, hovering in the centre was but a pinprick of blue and purple light with arcs and sparks flying off him. When he could no longer take it, he released focus and all the energy seemed to let loose into the clouds. Brilliant azure arcs raced around the crone and lashed at it repetitively – if Ramman held his focus on her, any other mages would not be harmed by the storm.

From a distance, the sight was remarkable, a completely localised electrical storm. It only seemed to last a few moments before Ramman was overpowered and his hold on the storm faded. With exhaustion overcoming him, Ramman abruptly landed and raced out of view. As he turned to look back at the crone, it seemed that she too had been weakened and was showing signs of being overcome.

It would not be long.
