A document explaining the elements associated with characters in my stories. Much of it was inspired by Pokemon, but it's not an exact copy.

An important detail not really explained in this doc is that dual-elements are pretty common. Any combination is possible (nothing can be half Non-Elemental however).

Non-Elementals: Creatures that do not have any kind of element. Ordinary humans fall into this category, but humans with magic are associated with an element.

Neutral Elements: Neutral Elements refer to creatures that do not belong to any of the other elemental categories. However, they differ from Non-Elementals, the key difference being that Neutral Elements have more fantastic abilities than Non-Elementals and are generally stronger. Neutral Elements can be decent fighters, and some can even learn magic.

Light Elements: Creatures that carry the power of light from the stars and moons. These beings are known for bright and flashy spells. They have the easiest time learning healing magic. They usually prefer to be awake during the day, but some prefer to be out and about at night when the stars and moon are the brightest. Light Elements are often considered to be the counterpart of Dark Elements.

Dark Elements: Creatures that carry the power shadows. These beings are known for being able to manipulate shadows. They have the easiest time learning dark magic. They are often nocturnal and prefer to be awake during the night. Dark Elements are often considered to be the counterpart of Light Elements.

Nature Elements: Creatures that carry the power of plants and fungi. These beings are known to be able to control plants and have a strong connection to nature. Nature elements come in several groups, such as those based on flowers, vegetables, fungi and other plants. Some are known to be able to communicate directly with plants, making them excellent gardeners. Many prefer to live in rural environments.

Water Elements: Creatures that carry the power of water. These beings are known for being able to control water and their swimming abilities. Water elements are able to naturally breath underwater, though some can also survive on land. They can split up between freshwater and saltwater creatures, and whether they are land-dwelling or water-dwelling. They tend to dislike dry environments.

Fire Elements: Creatures that carry the power of flames and embers. These beings are known for being able to create and control fire and withstand extreme heats. Many of them are immune to fire, though some can be harmed by elemental fires such as freezeflames. While most fire elements use normal fire, some use fire that contains other elements such as freezeflames, which combine fire and ice. They tend to dislike rain, bodies of water, and cold places, though some are not bothered by the latter. Many are known for their love of spicy foods.

Electric Elements: Creatures that carry the power of electricity. These beings are known for being able to control anything from small sparks of electricity to bolts of lightning. Many are able to act as a magnet for metals. They tend to have a stronger love of electronics than other elements. Most are immune to electricity themselves, though there are exceptions. They dislike things that cannot conduct electricity.

Wind Elements: Creatures that carry the power gusts and storms. These beings are known for being able to control wind itself and their flying abilities. Some can only create small gusts of wind while others can create tornados and other large storms. Many prefer high elevations, though some do spend most of their lives on the ground.

Earth Elements: Creatures that carry the power of minerals and soil. These beings are known for being able to control rocks, sand, and even the ground itself. Some are able to create sandstorms and earthquakes. Many prefer to close to the surface, though some are known for living in the mountains and other high elevations.

Metal Elements: Creatures that carry the power of metal. These beings are known for their hard and study bodies, which are made of various metals. Some creatures in this category are magnetic. Robotic beings tend to fall into this elemental category, though there are exceptions. Originally, Metal Elements were considered to be a subsection of Earth Elements until further research deduced they were separate.

Poison Elements: Creatures that carry the power of toxins and venom. These beings are known for their poisonous abilities, with some even being able to control acid. They’re known to be able to cause their surroundings to decay, though most have control over this. Poison Elements themselves are immune to most poisons, venoms, and toxins, though they may be susceptible to rarer ones. Many creatures in this category are insect-like while mushroom-based creatures tend to be half Poison Elements.

Ice Elements: Creatures that carry the power of frost and snow. These beings are known for being able to create and control ice and withstand extreme colds. Some are even known to create blizzards and snowstorms. They tend to prefer cold and frigid environments, and are usually immune to hypothermia and being frozen. Ice Elements tend to dislike hot places, though some aren’t too bothered by them. Many are known for their love of frozen foods.

Dragon Elements: Creatures that resemble the many cultural depictions of dragons. These beings are known for being powerful reptiles. They’re largely known for being long-lived and formidable foes in battle. Many creatures in this category are dual-elements, though pure Dragon Elements are common. Originally, Dragon Elements were listed in other categories, but further research has led to them being grouped in their own category.

Chaos Elements: Creatures that carry the power of chaos within them. The most common of their abilities are to create natural disasters at will. Often considered to be the most dangerous element for this reason, and are often feared or avoided by much of the galaxy. Chaos Elements are always dual elements, with the sole exception being the one known as “True Chaos”.
