"Aghh!" Sugar grumbled under her breath as a large tree root caught her foot and the basket of fruits on her arm went tumbling. She sighed as the squishy goods spilled out onto the dirt, and then picked them all up and placed them gingerly in her basket. More carefully this time, she started back down the path toward home, following the twisting trail through the ominous, moonlit forest. The moon hung high and full tonight, making the forest glow silver, and stretching out the shadows. A slight breeze tussled the leaves, and chilled Sugar, making her hug herself a bit to keep warm.

Most people would be afraid to travel in the woods this late, especially on a full moon, But Sugar felt confident and safe in her familiar forest home. Even if some monster of the realm decided to test it's luck, her wife Koala always protected her. A small smile splayed across her face as she thought of her giant, caring wife. However, it didn't last long, before Sugar's ears perked at the sound of footsteps that weren't her own. Resisting the urge and curiosity to turn around, she kept walking forward, trying to tune in on the steps. Maybe she was just hearing things?

snap!

A twig let out a sharp crack that echoed through the forest, and Sugar knew for sure she wasn't alone. Her pulse began to flutter wildly, and she quickened her pace, hoping to see a light that would reassure her she would be home soon. But whatever was following her knew she knew it was there, and didn't care about being stealthy anymore. What sounded like very large paws began tromping through the forest after her.

Sugar pushed down the fear that was rising up in her throat, clutched the basket to her chest, and broke into a dead run, trying her best to weave through the thick forests. Twigs and leaves clawed at her face and caught in her hair. Frantically, her eyes scanned for cover, and she quickly darted behind a wide tree, who's shawdows hid her well. She pressed herself into the trunk as hard as she could, trying to quiet her panting breathes. The cold, rough bark tugged at her clothes, as she tried to track her followers where-abouts. But the woods were quiet, and so Sugar gently eased herself back and relaxed against the tree to catches her breath. She let her eyes close.

Suddenly, a warm presence was close to her, sweet smelling breath filling Sugar's nose. Fighting the urge to scream, she slowly opened her eyes, first seeing large orange eyes peering at her from the dark. Then she saw black, as a mass of dark fur tackled her and pressed her against the ground. Sugar screamed and then went into a fit of wild giggle as her giant wife planted several kisses across her face."St-stop it!" She laughed, and tried to shove Koala off, who, of course didn't budge. Koala just smiled back at her with eyes filled with affection. The starlight sparkled in her gaze. Sugar reached her paws up and placed them gently on Koala's face. "I l-love you." She wheezed. She loved her wife very much, but she was very large and oh so heavy. "But please....get o-off..." Koala leaned down and nuzzled Sugar a few more seconds, and pressed a gentle kiss on her lips, before finally sitting up and releasing the pressure off of the tiny woman. After catching her breath, she scooted over to Koala and buried herself in her love's large, fluffy mane. They both sighed in contentment, and the quiet of the night settle around them. Rustling leaves and the subtle song of the mooncrickets tinkered in the air.

After a while, they got up, and started along the path back home. They were both giddy with warmth and love, even though a chilly breeze frolicked alongside them. They chattered (well, mostly sugar)while they made their way through the forest, until finally they made it home.
