Meet the Vexxes

"Dad please promise you won't do the weird hug," Kora begged, pressed against her father's side, their white, black, purple, and blue fur mingling. Harley barked a laugh, "Kora I have no idea what you mean by weird hug." Kora's mother huffed from the other side of the deck. "We both know you know exactly what she means by that," Verbena said, adjusting the lute slung across her shoulders.

Kora pulled away from her father and stepped towards her mother, nodding. She knew that Naya wanted to meet her parents, but she also knew her dad was a little bit overbearing, and that both of them were fairly childish and immature. Neither had ever had a "real" job and lived together with a handful of other pirates going on adventures. Kora didn't often get to see them once she moved off of the ship when she was a teenager, so she was grateful that they received her letter and decided to stop by Millstone for a few days. Thankfully, the rest of the crew decided to leave the trio alone: Inge and Cerys going out on a date, and Andromache, M, and Viktoriya heading out to meet up with other land-bound friends. Kora stepped up to the handrail, peering over the edge down at the docks, searching for Naya's pink coat amongst the people milling about below. Behind her, Harley and Verbena rubbed their shoulders together, remembering how fun it was to raise their pup aboard the ship, and being so proud of the person she'd become already. A squeak from Kora let them know that she had spotted her mate, and the pair walked up behind her to take a look. As the aki climbed aboard, they were met with a tall pink, white, and blue aki, making both parents interested in her immediately. They stood back while Kora embraced her mate, both saying hellos and giggling. As they broke apart, Kora motioned towards her parents. "Naya, these are my parents: Harley and Verbena." The two parents grinned at Naya, so excited to meet her. "Hi, my 

name is Naya Calliope, it's so great to finally meet you two!" she exclaimed, stepping forwards to shake talons with Verbena. Turning to greet Harley, Naya squeaked as she was pulled into a tight hug, almost crushing the air out of her chest. Harley was practically picking her up, and Naya began to flail a bit, making Kora yelp nervously. "Dad, oh my gosh I said not to do that!" Kora pulled on her father's arms, causing him to release Naya from his grasp. Laughing, he patted the pink aki on the back, while she looked somewhat mortified. Kora had of course warned her about the hug, but she was still caught so off guard by it. Verbena smiled awkwardly, "Sorry about that, he can't help himself." "You're so strong!" Naya laughed, catching her breath. Harley barked out a laugh as well, "That's what twenty years of the open sea will do to you!" Naya nodded and began looking around. This ship was more of Kora's childhood home than anywhere else, and she felt grateful to be able to visit it. "Well, I brewed some tropical tea for us, lets go inside," Verbena said, leading all of them into the ships hold.
