Phase 1 - Black Water

Aborakota and Livia watch the waves beside them on the ship. The sun was setting as they make way into a cove. Kartha barks directions to the crews, and Livia hears their names called. Time to get to work, he thinks, and nudges his partner. Aborakota turns and grins at him.

"Time to get to work!" he says, and bounds over to the chest with their gear.

Livia smiles warmly and follows. Light streams through the clouds like blades. Aborkota hands him his set of gear, when someone else walks up. The blue toa shuffles nervously before speaking

"Is this gear set 3?" he asks them.

Aborakota nods, "Yes it is! Is this your gear?"

The other toa nods his head, "my name is Livius. What's yours? Since it seems we'll be working together..."

"Aborakota, and this set of handsome feathers here is Livia! Did you see how to put the masks on? They can be kinda weird going over your face," Aborakota goes on, showing Livius how to put the gear on.

Livia smiles and shakes his head watching his partner help the other toa. A bit of tension leaves his shoulders when he learns that Livius does know the hand signals underwater. Within minutes they are in the water charting the topography of the sea floor, and taking note of the life here. Livius blends in easily with the water, and Livia sticks close to him to keep from losing him. Per the guidelines they were given when signing up for this adventure, they would have to stick with their teams, and he didn't intend to lose one of his teammates the first time they go in the water.

Aborakota waves and signs, movement ahead, watch. Livia squints his eyes, and spots the faintest hint of movement in the kelp. Movement that is not flowing with the currents. How odd, he wonders. Beside him he feels Livius' body tense, straining to follow the movement of the mystery being. But... it's gone now.

Livius signs back, see, follow?

Aborakota nods his head, You go, we follow.

Livia wasn't sure baout this, and glances at Aborakota swimming up beside him. He presses his face into Livia's neck and says "I'm the better swimmer, if anything happens I can be there in a blink to help him."

Livia nods his head, taking comfort in Aborakota's ability, and then signs, go ahead, to Livius.

They follow his shadow deeper into the kelp forest. chasing shadows. It's not until something swims over them that Livia startles. Ahead of them Livius loops around and is on them, and signs Someone in water! Turned go you! Ship now! With that last sign they make for the surface. Aborkota dragging both of them up with him as needed. In a few minutes they are back on the ship, and livius unceremoniously drops his mask onto the deck.

"I swear, there was someone else in the water! At first I thought it was a creature, maybe a seal like creature, but then a some surfac elight hit their face jsut right, and I swear it was another person! One of Kartha's Watchers! I lost sight of them when they turned around to flee in your direction. They turned because we'd hit the cliff on one side of the cove. We need to go back in there, and see if we can pick up their trail," he explains, breathless in his excitement.

Livia shuffles, thinking, trying to not let his nerves get to him, "well... they didn't attack us. Even when cornered, they just fled. I think we should be safe enough going back in. Kota?"

"Yeah, we should go back in, I'm interested to see if they dropped anything, if we can't find their trail directly. They fled in a hurry, and I saw something flash as they moved over us. If they did drop anything, I'd like to return whatever it is, if possible," Aborakota says, thoughtfully.

They make sure their gear is resealed, and go back into the water. Livius takes them back to the cliff, and there they find a bracelet, like Aborakota thought. Livia shook his head in amazement, he didn't see that small flash, he was too startled by whoever it was moving over them quickly in the water. Livius and Aborakota examine the item together, speaking into each other's necks to make more detailed comments. His neck feathers start to prick, and Livia turns around to see... Nothing? His back was too more open water, but, even with the murk surely he'd be able to see someone or something out there. Then, his eyes adjust and he can barely make out a tail moving away from them.

Just who are these Watchers, and why don't they approach us? He wonders. He turns back around to let the others know, before the details slip from his mind.
