Alani feels water build up in the gloss of her eyes as she set a beautiful dish set to the right of her on the couch and sat up taller to get a better look at the scene.

The giggles of her husband and lively son filled the room as the enlightened father simply rolled a wooden-wheeled Moose across the carpet before the fireplace. The blond bundle went wild and squealed happily, chubby fingers reaching out to caress Sam’s scrunched nose.

She watched with a full heart as he lovingly grabbed the hand from his face and snacked his lips against his little tan fists, goofily ‘eating’ the child up like a bowl of Winchester Surprise. The child kept shrieking joy until he ran out of breath and dropped to a curious gaze at the popcorn garland dressing the stairwell.

Alani stood up with a grunt and waddled over, picking up the child and resting him on her broad stomach, his lanky legs dangling about her body. She signed to him and met tired faces with the live moose who stood to brush himself off, head meeting the tippy top of the Christmas tree. ‘Do you want to watch Daddy open your present?’ Atlas bobbed his head vigorously. ‘Go get the present over there, Red.’

Letting him slide down her calf, he bounded around the tree and she barely turned before a wide hand placed comfortably over the front of her rose pink-sweater. She placed her frozen fingers over it, pleased to have a personal body warmer as he hissed in surprise and scooted closer.

“Jesus, ‘Lani, why don’t you sit by the fire?”

She leaned her head into his chest and reached up to briefly caress his bearded jaw. ‘Oh hush. I’m enjoying the moment, you know I get cold easily. I’ll sit down if you’ll join me?’

“Okay.” He let out a puff of air and they exchanged a gentle kiss, Alani’s hand brushing over the hair of the boy pressing between them, tugging their pant legs and breaking their kiss with more jolly chuckles from the broad man. “Alright buddy, alright.”

The three of them sat before the fire, Atlas laid out on his tummy and pulled a pirate plush into the crook of his arm, poking his button eyes. Alani propped her back on the edge of the sofa facing the fire, Sam crawling over to lay his head over her lap and let her message his hair with a hum.

His present- a collage photograph of every Winchester and those on the way -was rest on the mantle with the warm orange glow glossing each face.

The couple blinked slowly at the flickering lights, gentle christmas tunes floating in the background. Alani paused her scratching to Sam’s scalp and he shifted to glance upwards, strands of thin oak contouring his inviting eyes with a charming grin. Her face flushed pink as her top and she pushed that hair behind his ears. ‘Stop that.’ She teased.

His eyebrows curved up and he gave her the puppy look, not understanding. “What?” He muttered blankly.

Alani bit down on her lip. ‘That attractive look. I can’t stand you.’

“What one?”

She curled her lip and tried to mimic his expression only to come out silently laughing in defeat.

He snorted and rose his upper body, one arm holding his weight off as he hovered over her torso to give her the fourth kiss of the morning. Certainly not the last. “I’m flattered.”
