Shadowsong
3 (325 words) + 1 (perspective change) + 2 (evocative) + 1 (backstory) + 0 (dialogue) = 7 (pre-multiplier total) * 2 (extra effort) = 14 (pre event total) = 14 gold
Perspective change because I usually write in third person Extra effort because I took extra care to use 1st and 2nd person, tried my best at poetry which is a style I use very rarely, and did my best to make it evocative, to give it a vibe and to use sharp and precise words for it to work and slap
Author's Notes
Rohzenn wrote the first part in one of her notebooks. Probably at the beginning of their relationship, when Rohzenn is at one of her many lows, Aja stumbles upon it by accident. Sheâs moved by it. It hits a bit too close to home as she slowly gets a better glimpse at Rohzennâs many issues and fears, and saddened she only sees herself as forgettable and not enough.
So she grabs her plume and respectfully, next to the first part on the left, she marks her own version, gives her own vision and feelings on the right.
Rohzenn finds it only a few days or weeks after. It will shake her deeply, but it will also give her the nudge she needed to remember some things made it worth it to keep going. She takes the poem with her everywhere.
Shadowsong
I was born under the stars
Amethyst skin and golden eyes
A family torn in the midst of war
Facing the horrors of Azsharaâs lies
I came after
A sentry and a fighter
Glorious, brave soldiers
Adored by their little sister
I grew as the weakest child
The third wheel
Unable to hold a spear
Nor my ground against satyrsÂ
I am dim I am quiet
Hidden from your light
I am the one you left behind
I amÂ
The Shadow who cannot sing
The exiled, the underdog, the thief
I amÂ
The panther hunting your trail
Fiery eyes lurking in a gloomy aisle
I amÂ
The ghost behind your back
An elf made of blood and sin
Unheard and unseen
I am
The venomous snake
Tight around your neck
A dagger on your jugular
And I will
Die one night under the moonlight
Bleeding to death, lonely
Unable to scream
Unheard and unseen
Unheard and unseen
But you are so loud
With silence as your mother tongue
When your hands play and follow
The rhythm of  your mute song
Youâre loud
When you spit your disgust in a wet pop
When your punches scream in anger
When you chop meat with daggers
You roar
When rage distorts your beautiful face
And with cold fury you hiss
A soundless threat
Heavy fists
Bared teeth
Youâre a thunderstorm
When you shatter their bones
Cutting off their last breath
And agonizing whimpers as one
Youâre deafening
When you sniffle in my neck
Let me wipe away tears
Of a broken heart
Youâre loud
When itâs just you and me
Your short breaths and fervent kisses
How your body dances to confess
What you like and how much you love me
Youâre louder
Than my own heartbeat ringing in my ears
Everytime I catch sight of you
You are
My favorite lullaby
