The land was dominated by monsters. By the very name from which they're named. You could tell you that these were not creature of care, and well-being. They preyed on the weak and terrorised the forest town whenever their numbers grew to high. To keep this tragedy from occurring, adventures and hunters kept their numbers down. In turn, the monsters deaths created jobs. Currency, trades and things ran themselves like any other world. At least that is what Sugar felt after her adaption to this life.

“They got my blood up in their veins.” Sugar sang and hummed the rest of the song that played in her head off and on, the whole day. She spent the day getting some nice gems for Rena, a moth-woman who became a close friend when she arrived here. The jewels jangled together in her pocket to the beat of the music in her head. They were bright and dark, and all the shades of green that the leaves of this forest town could reflect. Sugar danced a happy dance, with her find, and hoped that Rena would too.

“Gonna get my wife a gift.” Sugar added in her own lyrics to her favourite song. “She's gonna love to have a place to carry things.” Sugar skipped through the forest. Unafraid of the large tree trunks that could hide the fangs and claws of some hidden monster. Sugar was a Spinx cat, walking upright, her large ears perked for danger. If pushed came to shove, she would use her fangs and chipped fangs to defend herself. Swirling her tail she climbed the stair to Rena's tree top home.

Her tree was small compared to others but the canopy was large. Shielding her eyes from the bright afternoon sun with its green shade.“Rena I'm here!” Sugar knocked on the wood door. Rena was quick to answer.

“You have them already?” Rena said her sparkling ruby eyes wide in surprise. Coated in a soft black down fur, the same colour of her feather wings. Rena was a large, short ball of fluff and cuteness. Sugar was so proud to be friends with such a cutie!

“Didn't want the bag to be traded away.” Sugar smiled feeling happy from the inside out. “Today is such a good day too.” Sugar pulled the thin hide bag that was holding her jewels from her pocket. “One large satchel please.”

Rena made dreams from monster leather. The satchel Sugar was eyeing was half her size, black and covered in tiny silver stars. Koala, her wife; was gonna love it. To her the bag was going to more of a trinket bag. Her girl was just a big bundle of love. Sugar gushed in her head holding her paws in her face and twisted back and forth. Picturing the happy face her wife was going to make. How she was going to have a very happy wife later that night too. Sugar could barely contain herself!

“Your wife is very lucky, you know.” Rena shook her head use to her antics, and darted inside with the gem bag. Coming back out with the large satchel. It slipped from her hands when a dark shadow came over them.

“Koala!” Sugar turned and beamed up. Knowing her wife by her shadow alone. Sugar looked up to where her wife towered, standing the same height as Rena's tree home. Her brown mane tumbled down her back. Koala's rich and delicate fur moved in the slight breeze that only her wife and the trees could feel. Bending to level herself with Rena's small deck entrance. Sugar smiled at the concern reflecting in her large gold eyes. The frowning mouth that hung over her shining gold fang, was too cute.

“I'm just fine, ya big lug!” Sugar gushed, did her wife care about her or what. “Rena she came to check up on me. The forest can be dangerous ya know.” Sugar turned to reassure her friend. Many of the villagers here in the trees were scared of Koala because of her size. If it wasn't that, it was her quiet feral nature making it hard for them to connect her with anything but fear.

“I know, but sorry.” Rena ducked back inside, but unlike the others she was trying. Rena didn't even scream this time! Sugar nodded. Happy at the small progress.

“What am I going to do with ya.” Sugar leaned forward rubbing her wife's check in a full body rub. Rewarded with the soft rumbling of her purrs and a gentle rub back. Gods, she loved her!
