Posters have started to appear around Faline, deep red with masks drawn on them. They’re unreadable by non-mages, but a mage may read the following text:

THE DANCING MARKET
GRAND RE-OPENING
All mages and mage sympathizers invited

One way or another, your character finds out about this market and decides to go there.

Why does your character enter the market?

  1. They’ve never heard of this before and are curious what it’s all about! They wear the rabbit mask.
  2. This is surely a place to meet like-minded people, and perhaps make the connections they need. They put on the grinning mask.
  3. Sounds like a party, let’s go dance! They wear the elegant mask.
  4. An illegal gathering underground? They go down to investigate and report this to the right authorities, of course. They put on the blinded mask.

The Dancing Market - 2. Grinning

After helping Maggy and Valkin in Sommerang, Rohzenn leaves the next day for Faline. She doesn’t have a coin left and her newly discovered magic abilities confuse her. She needs help, both financial and magical, yet doesn’t know where to find it. She’s always been a loner - even more so than she realized. She could contact a member of the Vatuh Urath. The Black Jug hides some of its members, including the well-known Azcasu. That was her original plan on her way to Faline for a shelter and maybe some easy gold, be it from a paid mission or through stabbing meat in its illegal pits. An option she has to drop. As a general rule she’s never trusted anyone, but now that she’s aware of her abilities she cannot even approach its members. She might as well stab her own back herself.

So when Rohzenn notices all these small posters mentioning a Dancing Market, she’s intrigued. Especially as it invites mages and allies only. It might be a trap - yet as she hides in the shadows in a corner to survey it, nonmages do not seem to be able to read it. She doesn’t really have a better option anyway. So with all the care in the world, she lurks into the shadows without leaving a trail. She grimaces at the irony, puts a grinning mask on and goes into the depths of gloomy corners and dark alleys.

Maybe if she casts a glance at this mysterious market, hiding behind silence and anonymity, she will find some help. Rumors, connections, a name, warnings… Anything to get her through this. After all, whispered lies, secrets and illegal undergrounds feel like home. She could really use a friend - or at worse steal some gold.
