Downpour

Team Arcane Magic receives another task; in search for a chansey who was said to have been lost in the woods. As Paraffin and Hyacinth approach the forest, Hyacinth looms towards Paraffin's right and asks "Hey, um, Paraffin? It looks like there's gonna be heavy downpour.”

"A little rain isn't going to kill me, Hyacinth."

"No! Like--I mean it! It wouldn't be safe for us to be strolling out in the open!"

"We'll be fine, if anything--"

Suddenly, a dusky cumulus could be seen forming from above, while shortly afterwards; droplets started to fall from the sky. Hyacinth, distressed–picked up Paraffin with his vines and began dashing closer to the forest.

“Hey! What’s the big idea?!”

“Are you crazy? We’re going to be soaked if we don’t find a shelter now!”

A loud roaring thunder clap can be heard from the distance. As Hyacinth entered the forest, she searched around, looking for a shelter enough to fit the two. Paraffin examined the area a bit, while holding onto Hyacinth’s vine and noticed a potential shelter. “Hey! What about over there?” questioned Paraffin, as they pointed towards a fairly large tree with an opening, enough to fit the two.

“Oh, yeah! That could work!” Hyacinth replied as he quickly sprinted towards the opening. The rain continued to pour at a much faster rate every second. “Almost–there!” Hyacinth muttered. The two would then reach the shelter, gasping for air, but were relieved that they managed to find a safe spot.

“Are you alright, Paraffin?!”

“What?”

“Your wisp–it’s smaller than usual!”

“Oh. I forgot I had that thing. Yeah I’m alright.”

Hyacinth felt a sense of relief. She looked around, trying to find a comfortable position, as the opening of the tree wasn’t spacious. “I really hope the rain goes away soon…”

A few minutes later, a voice murmured that seemingly stalked the two from above "Visitors? Well I surely didn't expect to see any, considering the weather. Though, at the same time, I probably should have expected some rookies running over to my little domain"

"Hey! Who are you calling rookies!?" Hyacinth asked, in a slightly irritated tone.

The shady figure crawled down to get a better glimpse of the two, "Ah, it appears I've caught your attention" replied the figure, appearing to be a monochromatic, indigo torracat–who was observing the team from beyond. “Do you two happen to be explorers?”

“I wouldn’t say certified, as we’ve only gone on a few missions, but yeah, sure.” Paraffin answered.

“Very well, in that case, I have a small task for the two of you–nothing much, just a little errand!”

“Well, we would love to help! However, we can’t really do much because of the rain.”

“Yes, yes, I’m fully aware of that. Though I only ask for you to help me out after the rain clears.”

“Spill the beans.” Paraffin requested.

“Very well. You see, recently I got ambushed by a mon–not really familiar with it nor did I really get a clear view of them, so I can’t give you exact details. Though they were definitely all bite and no bark.”

“Isn’t it ‘all bark and no bite’?” asked Hyacinth.

“...I twisted the words around so that they’d fit my statement.”

“Well? What are we supposed to do?

“I’m in need of a few bandages that will help cover my injury–simple as that!”

“Can’t you just go to the town by yourself?” Paraffin questioned “I believe they can supply you with some for free.”

“Well, for starters; I can’t really move much and the trip there from this distance would be exhausting. On the other hand, I do have some ‘history’ with the guild and I doubt that they’d be wanting to see me.”

Hyacinth turned over to Paraffin and muttered “Do you really think we can trust them? And plus, we still have a mission at hand.”

Paraffin pondered for a second and replied “Eh, worse case scenario we get catfished. Though, I really doubt that in their condition, they’d be able to do much so... sure.”

“But what if the guild finds out that we’ve been working with a mon that they seemingly have some bad history with?”

“We’ll just tell them that we didn’t know and move on with our day. Easy as that!” Paraffin reassured, as they turned over to the torracat.

“Eh, sure, why not. We’ll do it after the rain clears.”

“Wonderful! I’ll be waiting for the two of you a few hours after the storm.” replied the torracat, as they swung their tail back and forth.

“Oh, I just realized! I haven’t even properly introduced myself!” said the torracat “You may call me, Comet.”

"Now, why don't you two weary travelers tell me about your troubles? Or your journey in general. I have a couple of berries I could provide if you're ever feeling hungry, as well!"
