Vellum plodded along through the palace, flipping through a pile of documents as they went. As per usual they were looking for the princeling, but he’d been off on one of his adventures as of late so Vellum had little hope that they’d be successful. Before he’d left the excitable browbird was enthusiastically chattering to Vellum about a mythical beast he was going to find. Something about a slug, but if they were being honest Vellum had a tendency to tune out their friend when he went on similar tangents. Continuing on their way the distracted little kitbull didn’t notice the glossy trail they were about to intersect. Unfortunately by the time Vellum realized they’d stepped in something they’d already started to slide. With a frantic buzz they instinctively threw out their hands to try and steady themself, tossing the stack of papers they’d been carrying into the air. This didn’t do much to help though and Vellum ended up face down in the slimey trail, documents fluttering to the floor around them. Vellum sat up, blinking slowly, what exactly had they slipped on. Looking around they saw several massive slime trails streaking across the floor…and the walls…and the ceiling… Left eye twitching slightly, Vellum carefully attempted to stand up and begin gathering their fallen papers. Unfortunately for them the slime had begun to seep into their fur causing them to not only appear quite like a drowned rat, but also resulting in their fur sticking to floor itself. Composure starting to slip Vellum was now vibrating aggressively, buzzing out a tangent of profanity that would have made even the most well versed pirate to shame. Thus went on for nearly twenty minutes, Vellum completely oblivious of their surroundings as they fought against the mystery slime, before a cheery voice from shouted “Vellum my friend!! Do you need a hand perhaps?” Vellum looked over, eyes slowly traveling up the glistening brown wall that had appeared silently before him. There sat the princeling, nearly ten meters above Vellums head, atop the most utterly massive slug they’d ever laid eyes on.
