Prompt - Time Together

Vellum was working quietly at the princelings desk when, with a loud POP, the browbird himself suddenly appeared midair and fell onto the rug with a huff. “Vellum! Hey hi! I bought some suspiciously cheap tele crystals! I guess that’s why they were discounted…” He stood up and continued to chatter. Vellum buzzed, trying to get his friend to understand that they was working, but true to his character the excitable browbird didn’t get the message and instead hopped up onto his desk and reached his hand out to Vellum, “Let’s go on an adventure!” Vellum paused, looking up at the princeling and hummed out a laugh before taking his hand. Much to Vellums dismay the browbird grabbed a handful of uncomfortably cheap teleportation crystals out of the pouch on his hip and together they popped out of the office.

Vellum and the browbird prince had quite the history together. When the prince was young his attendant, and old satyr, would often be driven to his wits end trying to both care for and educate the rambunctious browlet. One day, completely at a loss of what to do, the satyr sent out a prayer to any celestial being who would listen, begging for help of some sort. As soon as the final word had been spoken a flash of light burst into existence in front of the confused satyr and extremely excited browlet, and with a soft pop a small fluffy kittle fell into existence before them. The little blink once, twice, then stood up and buzzed a greeting. Not understanding what had happened in the slight, but seeing a new playmate before him, the browlet reached out his hand and asked his new friend if they’d like to go on an adventure.

Despite the fact that Vellum was also only a child, they were born with an extremely fastidious nature, and a dedication to whatever they considered their work. That began as being a playmate and study buddy for the prince, and led to Vellum eventually becoming his attendant, allowing the old satyr to finally retire. This hybrid relationship that the two had though never seemed to interfere with their friendship, and while many others didn’t fully understand how, Vellum and the browbird prince never failed to be by each other’s side.
