I’m not super familiar with writing poetry, haven’t written any in quite some time but thought I’d try my hand at it again :3

Crimson trimmed in gold

Bodies strewn across the wretched wastes

Pages torn from a book, the stories getting old

Broken down soldiers, gripping onto unwavering faiths

He’ll go dig a young girls grave

He’ll lay her down to rest

All in hopes to make her behave

He’ll make sure to burn all the rest

He’s a dog dragging himself to the end

Torn flag clenched between his bleeding teeth

Wounds sting that she’ll never mend

An allied blade torn and buried beneath

The bull taunts that sickly martyr

Victory cries her name

Her mind’s ripe for the slaughter

Her head’s fair game

One day she’ll forget it all

Burn all those tainted pages

Be the witness to that taunting bull’s fall

A tired story ruined by the ages.

That dog will howl a song in its dying days

Dropping that flag he held so tight

A testament to all her sad dismay

One day she’ll see the desert’s light
