Ophelia pulled her **Starsear Cloak** tight around her arms as the wind whipped about her head. She was perched atop the roof of Enigma’s orphanage, eyes fixed to the sky as she waited in quiet contemplation. Word had spread rather quickly of the dragon’s meteor shower of wishes, and it felt as if the entire world was watching the sky with bated breath.

She could hear the quiet chatter of the young children from the courtyard, which Enigma was attempting to keep controlled. A small part of her felt guilty, for not helping him with the young ones… but this moment was important to her. Now that she’d watched Aleus leave, with so many others, off to start their lives… she felt jealous, in a way, but she wasn’t willing to admit it. She didn’t know what her heart wanted, and she felt like seeing the dragon might help her figure out what she was supposed to be doing.

The chatter from below had suddenly gotten louder, and Ophelia looked up and dropped her jaw in awe, her grip on her cloak loosening. The thin outline of the dragon stretched out across the sky above her, silhouette lit by the moon.

It felt as if the stars were glittering in a hundred different colors, and the roar of the world mellowed out to a dull white noise as she stared up at the creature. It was a peaceful, yet harrowing moment of pure honesty and connection between herself and the world.

It was as if every other thought in her head ceased to exist as she made eye contact with the creature. Barely of her own accord, she suddenly bent over, kneeling towards the dragon, and a choked voice escaped her lips with only the honest truth.

“I just wish I didn’t have to live this life alone anymore.”
