A brief overview of how Al ended up as an adventurer, I should probably add more bullet points to this.

- Alastair's family, the De Lorraine's are the rulers of the island nation of Elodar but it has only been that way for the last 200 years. Before that Elodar was ruled by the Beamount family until a terrible plague wiped out most of them. Al's great great great grandmother, the Aasimar Lady Celeste cured the plague and was crowned queen after that.
- Skip forward 200 years and Alastair's sister Kyrie was supposed to be the one to become queen. But then she got the call to become a paladin (in their culture paladins give up everything of their former lives to travel doing good).
- So at the age of 15, Al is suddenly the heir to the throne. He was then given a new bodyguard Royen Beaumont and over the next 5 years they spent every day together and ended up falling in love. This ended with Al telling his parents that he's gay and they gave the relationship their blessing.
- Shortly afterwards Al was crowned King due to his father's failing health. The next day he married Royen - everything is happy so far!!!
- But the night of the wedding Royen asked him to take part in an elvish wedding tradition, but it was actually a spell that not only forced him to take the same paladin Oath as his sister, but branded the words on his skin.
- Turned out Royen was just waiting to do that the entire time, and was just pretending to love him the whole time!!! (Or so he says)
