The world my ponies live in

My ponies do not live in Equestria, but in a different universe of the same Earth as ours.  In this universe MLP characters all existed in the past and Equestria is translated back into being the USA territory-wise, but the same as the show Lore-wise. According to the current timeline, only Twilight still exists and reigns there, even if she’s getting quite old too. My ponies mostly all live in an invented small independent country named Matrilia found at the border between France and Italy.

The main setting is Myland, a very big metropolitan city full of different cultures and neighbourhoods. Many ponies come to the city to find fortune, to attend its universities or to simply start afresh! 

Going west from Myland there's a small rural town named Pinerol, basically only known for its grain harvests and for being a place where nothing really happens; pretty interestingly, the original civilization of Matrilia started here thousands of years ago, and descendants of that population is still existing and most of them live in smaller towns all around the outskirts of Pinerol.

Between Pinerol and Myland rises Peafea, a medium sized town known to be the home of the first University in Matrilia. Compared to Myland is extremely small but is a place full of energy and prolific economy, based on students going there to study as well as historical and enological tourism, as extremely good wine comes from there. Since the university of Peafea is so ancient, it collected many traditions along the way and the students still follow them to this day: from the most classical prank week to the first year students, to special festivities and parties all year round.

Not very far away there's the marine city of Spicia, smaller than Myland but with a very important touristic seaside and a commercial harbour. Every July there's a big summer party with a boat race and a fair! It is also quite famous for the big parades they make every year for Mardi Gras.

Finally, the mountain-side city of Boriom, only a couple hours away from Myland on the opposite side to Spicia, know for its great skiing and hiking routes, but also for more relaxed walks in the woods. The most important National Natural Park is found around here.

SPECIFIC PLACES, SCHOOLS AND LOCATIONS:

• Accademia Magica: aka Academy of Magic in common language, the most prestigious Magic school in all the country, found in Peafea. To enroll in it you must finish high school a year earlier and to be especially promising in the magical arts, so that once you finish all six years you become an official State Magician and you can help the country in any magical matter, from resolving a fight between drunk unicorn teens to helping the other state forces (such the police and the army) against Villains. 

• Water Flats: Are you a mermaid, a seapony, a kelpie or simply a deep lover of water but you still want to partake in living in the Big City? Fear not! Water Flats are available for the marine residents, apartments composed for the 90% in water rooms linked by glasstube corridors, the only “normal” room being the living room at the entrance so that you can still invite your land friends and so that you can check how you look dry before changing into a land form to go to work! If you are a water-bound species like mermaids or seaponies you’ll have an incredible discount price, but they are still accessible also for not necessarily water-bound species like sharkponies and even for those land ponies who love water way too much! 

SPECIFIC BRANDS, COMPANIES AND SUCH:

• NU LIFE: Nunnaly's fashion brand, dedicated to those who don't want to conform but still want to look expensive and put together. Lots of pastel, lots of black on black, lots of weird prints and obscure references to various cultural fields.

• CERVIERE: Vogue's fashion brand and the most pricy, famous and probably loved as much as hated fashion brand, they do both haute couture and normal clothes as well. Obviously as normal as diamond-encrusted zippers can go.

• MON LAPIN DES ETOILES: Gweenie's Mon Lapin Des Etoiles, often shortened as MLDE or as just Lapin is a lolita and alt fashion brand, known for having different sizes and lengths so that ponies of all body shapes and heights can wear their clothes.
