Oscar was no stranger to staying up late. Whether on purpose or not, he always ended up staying awake each night until two or three in the morning.

Oscar’s boyfriend, Dr. Henry Jones, usually clocked out at around ten at night, unless he was working on something, which would lead him to one, two, three in the morning.

Oscar hadn’t realized this until he saw it for the first time.

“Hey, Hen? Are you still working on your grail diary? It’s getting kinda late, even for you…” Oscar looked at the clock. Two in the morning. This is usually when he was off to bed. He had never seen Henry up this late before.

Henry gave him a simple response. “Mhm.” No more.

“Well, I’m gettin’ a lil’ tired, and, well, it’s late, so… finish up and c’mon.”

One thing that Henry had never seen was Oscar being tired, so the statement caught him off guard, but he continued working.

Oscar noticed Henry’s lack of action and wandered over to his desk where he was working. “C’monnn, Hennie.” Oscar was careful not to touch Henry, as they knew the work he was doing was very delicate and very vitally important to him, so he pulled up a chair and took a seat next to him.

Henry saw his beloved in his peripheral vision and finally looked over at them. There they were, with half-lidded eyes. Tired.

Henry’s studious mind took immediate notice of features that were never before present in his Oscar. Their eyes, yes, but also a more noticeable feature. Their rabbit ears were slightly droopy. Normally they stood up to attention, like two Greek columns. Or they were drooped completely, when they were sad. But they were only slightly drooped this time.

Henry looked at this and thought.

“Alright, alright. Just let me finish the last detail on this illustration, and then I’ll come to bed with you. Alright?” He gave a soft smile.

“Yaaay!” Oscar cheered. For now, he waited, and watched his lover’s skillful, artistic hand work its magic.
