Sabrina crawled out of her burrow, shaking dirt and dust from her fur once she was outside. She stretched, a slight purr rumbling in her chest at the warmth of the sun's beams shining down.

In her opinion, it had been too long of a winter and she was more than happy to greet the spring. She closed her eyes, allowing herself to enjoy the chirping of birds carried by the gentle spring breeze.

After a few minutes she opened her eyes, already bored of staying in the same spot. It was about time she went to see if any other kindledews were up and about yet. The majority of those she knew had decided to settle down in one spot to wait out the worst of winter, so it had been a while since she last saw them.

She stretched again before heading off in the direction of the nearest stream, hoping that someone she knew would've had a similar idea to head there.

---

Sabrina grinned as she reached the stream, already spotting someone she knew, Rainfall. Even better is that Rainfall was someone she considered a friend. It was always easier to strike up conversations with friends... or to play pranks on them without them getting overly upset.

Sabrina crouched down by some bushes, her pupils dilating in excitement as she laid in wake, watching as the blue furred kindledew padded along the side of the stream, getting closer to her. The moment they came close enough, Sabrina sprang out from the bushes.

"RAHH!" She yelled out, barely holding back her laughter. Rainfall let out a sharp yelp of shock, springing backwards, their fur on end, eyes wide. It took them only a few moments to realize there was no actual danger and they relaxed a bit, though they gave Sabrina an unhappy look.

"You should've seen the look on your face!" Sabrina crowed, laughing. Rainfall lightly huffed, rolling their eyes. "You could've just come up and said hello like most would, instead of scaring me out of my fur." They muttered. "Where would the fun in that be?" Sabrina questioned, leaning against them, still grinning.

Rainfall decided there was no point in responding to that, just sighing. "Well, now you owe me." They stated, stepping away and letting Sabrina topple to the ground with a soft 'oof'. "You can help me with fixing up my garden. Today." They hummed.

Sabrina let out a groan of faux annoyance. "I suppose I can fit you into my very busy schedule today." She grinned, standing up. "Lead the way, captain." She lifted her paw to her head in a joking salute. Rainfall gave yet another roll of their eyes but gave Sabrina a slight smile. "Well, come on then." They hummed, padding off with the other kindledew following close behind.

---

"I have no clue how you have the patience and time to maintain such a large garden." Sabrina commented as the two kindledews approached Rainfall's home and, more specifically, their garden.

"I make the time." Rainfall said simply as they walked into the garden. "Anyways, you can start off by doing some weeding." "Sticking me with the tedious jobs, eh?" Sabrina grinned. "Well it's not like I often get the chance to leave that job to someone else." Rainfall smirked in return.

"Fair enough." Sabrina hummed before moving over to where she spotted some weeds, grabbing them in her jaws and pulling them out. While Sabrina was occupied with weeding, Rainfall padded over to where the flowers were, pausing to pick up a watering can. They were careful as they watered each flower, making sure they didn't pour too much or too little water. They also kept an eye on where they stepped, not wanting to accidentally squish a bug or trip over anything.

They cast a glance in Sabrina's direction to double check where she was. They wouldn't put it past her to try her hand at scaring them yet again. They suddenly paused, a mischievous idea coming to mind. It was only last autumn they had set up a sprinkler system by the vegetables in case it was needed during the winter, so they wouldn't have to fuss about going outside in the cold to water everything.

"Hey, Sabrina?" They called, setting down the watering can. "Yeah?" "Would you mind weeding around the vegetables some more?" "Will do!" Sabrina quickly responded, padding over to the vegetables.

Rainfall quickly made their way over to the tap where the sprinklers were connected, looking to ensure that Sabrina wasn't paying attention before slipping around the side of their house. They turned the tap, turning on the sprinklers. It didn't take long for a surprised yelp to sound out.

Rainfall moved to watch as Sabrina quickly got soaked by the sprinklers. Sabrina was quick to scramble away from the sprinklers when snapping out of the shock of it. She shook out her fur, sending droplets of water flying. She paused as she heard laughter and she turned to see Rainfall laughing hard from where they were.

"Oh you little- C'mere, how about you get a taste of it!?" Sabrina growled playfully, running at Rainfall. Rainfall let out a startled squeak, darting off as the other kindledew chased after them.

It didn't take long for Sabrina to catch up, pouncing on Rainfall with another playful growl. She gently grabbed them by the scruff, pulling them over to the sprinklers as they still laughed. She hauled them right into the middle of the sprinklers, holding them there as water went all over them both.

Rainfall playfully kicked at her after a few minutes of being soaked, pushing her off before scrambling to their own paws and scampering away from the sprinklers. Sabrina followed suit, laughing a bit. Both of them laid down on the ground in a patch of warm sunshine to dry their fur.

"Y'know, I didn't take you for the prankster type." Sabrina grinned. "It was just getting even for before." Rainfall grinned back. "Yeah sure, just admit it was fun." "Well, I'd be lying if I said it wasn't fun." "There's the spirit!" Sabrina laughed.

Rainfall gave her a light, playful shove. "Well, if you still agree to help me with the garden once we're dried off, I can cook some dinner for the both of us tonight." "Of course! It's a deal, I wouldn't ever turn down free food."

Rainfall gave a soft laugh at that, nodding a bit. "We'll get back to work once drying off." They hummed. "Sounds good to me." Sabrina stretched out.

---

It didn't take too long for them to both dry off and get back to working on the garden. Like Rainfall promised, once they were finished with the garden, they both went inside and Rainfall cooked a hot meal for the both of them to share.

After dinner, Rainfall followed Sabrina to the door. "Today was pretty fun, spending time with you." They spoke up. "I think it'd be neat if we met up and hung out some more, at some point." "Oh, definitely! Maybe next week, same time?" "Works for me."

"Sounds great! See you then." Sabrina grinned. "Travel home safely!" "Don't worry, I will." Sabrina nodded before exiting Rainfall's home and setting off to her own house. She was definitely looking forward to sleeping, after such a long day of hard work.
