Chapter 1

It was a good day for going through some caves, and that's what Shamir did. Apparently there was rumored to be a huge stash of gemstones in a cave in a not so far away town, and damn if he wasn't going to go get it, or try anyway. He wasn't really a quitter, but he didn't want to wound up dead this time round. A long time ago he lost his arms, and possibly a few other limbs. Anyway, as he walked through the town- he asked some villagers about it, and some said it was a lie, some said they wish they'd get it. But they couldn't. Either way, little by little he gained directions from them, which was enough after the 5th villager. As the little lizard on his shoulder made a small noise, he chuckled a bit. "You'll be fine, I promise you- we'll find the treasure..." he muttered, reaching up to rub the lizards head as he continued walking. As the day wore on, Shamir and his little buddy went through some caves, not getting any luck. As another unamused noise came from the lizard, Shamir sighed with a small eye roll. "Fine, just one more cave, and then we'll go." He glanced down at the reptile on his shoulder, and it was kinda like the lil buddy nodded his head. As the walk took forever to find a new cave, he finally found one. The lizard let a low noise and crawled into Shamir's pocket. Going down further with a weak torch in hand, there wasn't much of anything interesting down there at first, but as it progressed and got darker and the torch got weaker- something was shining from the weak light, and as the man got closer, it was a diamond, followed by other stones. "Well... I'll be damned." He muttered, going to go grab it, he didn't know how much it'd be worth, but it could be a bit. The lizard poked it's head out, making a noise. Something was wrong, something was definitely gonna happen. Shamir heard the noise and glanced down at his pocket. "What?" He asked, and that's when it happened- rocks started to shake and some break off from the caves ceiling and also around other parts of it, "Oh.. thats what." He muttered as the lizard made a noise, before it was too late- the man ran out of the cave with the diamond in hand, and he didn't turn back.

As it got darker and darker and he made his way back to the village, Shamir couldn't help but speak of the cave, but he didn't say what he found. He had shoved the diamond in a bag attached to his waist.

"Oh... yea, no, that cave is really dangerous." A villager spoke as they blew out cigarette smoke. "A few people have died in there, be glad you made it out. People shouldn't really go in there..." they coughed. "Why?" Shamir asked, tilting his head. The lizard almost done the same. "People go in there to find a supposedly hidden treasure chest from long ago, it could've been Blackbeard's."

If Shamir would've known that before hand, he probably wouldn't have came out. If he didn't have the lizard with him, he also wouldn't have came out or known. But, little buddy always has right instincts.
