Spud Joins the Party

Zeke and Vale sit at a tavern to discuss plans moving forward with their quest.

Spud: Mages, you say?

Zeke: Uh, yeah. I just want to know why I'm undead and who resurrected me.

Spud: Well, I'm looking for a powerful necromancer, too. It'd be easier for us to go as a group.

Vale: Why are you looking for one?

Spud: I could ask the same of you, wolfy, but if you must know, I want to learn some of the more difficult spells from the experts. If you couldn't tell by my clothing, I, myself, am a mage; a summoner, to be more specific. Although I do know a few non-summon spells if the situation demands it.

Vale: I'm just in it for the adventure. And because I didn't think this guy (points at Zeke) could take care of himself on his own.

Spud: Yeah, zombies and their slow reaction times.

Zeke: I can take care of myself just fine. I just didn't have the courage to turn her down is all.

Spud: Yes, I can see that. Does that mean you won't have the courage to turn me down, either? (slides in booth next to Zeke)

Zeke: Uh, I guess?

Spud: Oh, thank you! You know, you're awfully responsive for a zombie. Articulate, too. Most of the ones I come across are either mindless workers or try to eat me. It really is impressive work to see one as sentient as yourself. Especially since you don't seem to have a master nearby to keep you in check. I know this is asking a lot, but, well, um... can I study you?

Vale: Don't I get a say in all this?

Zeke: Hey, I'm the team leader. I like him.

Vale: How do we even know he's a real mage? He hasn't even told us his name.

Spud: Oh, where are my manners? My name is Spud: and you are? (holds out his hand for Vale)

Vale: (shakes his hand) I'm Vale.

Spud: Nice to meet you: (turns to Zeke) and you?

Zeke: (shakes his hand) These days I go by Zeke.

Spud: Oh, really? Zeke the Zombie, hehe. So, what did you go by previously?

Zeke: I dunno, I can't remember anything before waking up near Vale's village.

Spud: Interesting... Oh, you two probably want to see some of my spells or something, don't you?

Vale: Yeah. (crosses arms)

Spud: They don't allow summonings inside, but I can show you them outdoors later, if that's okay with you.

Zeke: Sure, what about you, Vale?

Vale: Yeah, sure, whatever.
