Happy endings are impossible. Shun was certain of this.
In movies, the princess always marries the love of their life and they live a happily ever after. But that's not an ending. No, no, that's definitely  only the beginning. If happy endings were real, then what were they?

Shun glanced over at Fay who was playing a game on his console as if it's  the most interesting thing he ever had his hands on. What were they?
He looked back at the small postcard in his hands. Even thought he wanted to attend his cousin's wedding he wasn't very excited or happy for them. They will get their happy ending, huh?

"If happy endings are possible, then I've picked the worst possible ending ever" He sighed, slumping down into the couch. He knew that Fay wasn't the blame, or even himself. It's not like he wished for himself to be like this.
But still, the thought kept returning onto his mind. What were they?

Kicking Fay in response to his silence Shun was pouting silently. Fay however, didn't even seem to listen. Getting up before leaving back into his own room Shun knew this question would be on his mind all day long.

They weren't married, certainly not. And they were certainly not dating...or were they? Shun wasn't sure. They definitely didn't have the common couple vibes around them. They were barely kissing or hugging. The only thing that kept them together, so he assumed, was the dog and this apartment. His heart stopped for a second.
After silence filled the apartment for more than one hour, Fay eventually found it suspicious. The only times when it's silent- and when Shun isn't trying to bother him- is when something's up.
Shun was grinning widely at the postcard just a few hours ago, but now he was in his room, not even calling Kiwi  to come along. Fay wasn't dumb. He knew Shun was probably worrying by himself again, like always. But in all honesty it was none of Fay's  concern. Or so at least he thought.
While he was lost in thoughts for a split second, Fay ended up losing the boss battle. Sighing about his loss, he told himself that he should stop caring about Shun. He's just having one of his weird phases again. But Fay couldn't help stand up and walk past Shuns door just to check that the blonde kid was still alive.

Late in the evening, Shun's eyes slowly opened. Seems like he had fallen asleep from all the worrying. He felt a bit restless and yet so down, as if someone had drained all energy out of his body. Pulling the knit blanket along into the living room, bright lights hit him fast and he squinted. It was only now that Shun realized how sore his eyes were. Was he crying in his sleep? Shun wasn't really sure anymore, but he was exhausted... and this one simple question was still on his mind: What were they?

' Please invite your girlfriend/wife to come with you!
We are excited to meet you and your special other after all these years '

Shun stood still in front of the fridge for a minute. This postcard... he  didn't remember pinning it onto the fridge with the magnet. Those simple words, to think those simple words were causing all this worry and fear to well up in his heart... pathetic. He wanted to eat the last pudding that he's been saving all day in this fridge, but suddenly his hands were trembling and he wasn't certain anymore. About them. What were  they?

The sudden movement of the fridge door pulled Shun back  into reality. Next to him was Fay, who had opened the fridge, looking at the boy who had been standing there not saying anything, not even doing  anything for minutes. Shun couldn't read the expression Fay had been  making. He felt his own tears well up again, but he wasn't quite sure why. A silent noise filled the room for a second, and only after that Shun realized that Fay had said something just now.

"Huh?" Shun said, hoping that Fay would repeat what he just muttered.
Shutting down the fridge door after having reached for the last pudding, Fay pointed at the postcard on the fridge.

"I said, we are going, right?"
