funny/epic

at 4:13 am, when i should have been sleeping, i got up. my sheets crinkled in an unwelcoming way that made me overly aware of the silence filling the room. standing up alone in the dark felt like a declaration of defeat- i really couldnt sleep without someone in my bed, or without getting blackout drunk. tonight was another restless, humid, lonesome summer night. i was trembling with nerves. the only thing i could think to do was go to the medicine cabinet and chug some nyquil. all i could think about was the dreamless sleep that would follow, and how bad i wanted it.

when i stepped out in front of my computer, the twin monitors glowed to life- i froze a bit. id have to shut it down, i must have misclicked and chosen sleep mode... i glanced to the monitors, one's wallpaper soothingly fading from one epic gamergirl wallpaper to another. the cursor flickered into one with an hourglass beside it, then back again. i dont know why i looked at it so long- i didnt really care. i just trudged to the bathroom looking for my ill-used sleep aid. when i came back in to lay down again, the monitors had went back to black. the placebo of drinking it at all made me too tired to fuss about turning it off. sleep came to me easily.

i slept with my bed in view of the webcam, like every night before.
