A long buzz came from the door. Seed laid in the bed, staring at the empty ceiling above. He really didn’t feel like any company right now. Rest, all he needed was some well needed rest. The buzz sounded again, stubborn and more drawn out, followed by a knock.
    “I know you’re in there!”
With a sigh he got out. The only thing lighting up the small room was a neon sign outside his frosted glass window. Turning the lights back on bade his headache even worse. Walking up straight made him feel like vomiting. The fucking buzzer went off one more time, making Seed lose his patience.
    “FUCKING HELL! JUST WAIT OKAY?!”

He grunted as the headache sharpened. What was such a fucking hurry? He almost forgot putting on the mask before opening the door. Once secured, he unlocked the several both digital, and physical locks. Jax stood waiting on the other side. Typical. Typical him to be the one to suddenly show up. Jax was always needy like that. Feeling “worried” as soon as something was slightly out of place. Both of them waited for the other to say something and Seed was first out.
    “Yeah? What is it?”
All the mods in his face made it almost impossible to see his mood. Fortunately they had been running for long enough that Seed could tell that something was bothering him. Jax invited himself in, not minding the state of disrepair and mess the home was in.
“You always wear your mask in your own home?”
    “Does it fucking matter?”
Jax turned and leaned backwards on the small excuse for a kitchen counter.
“Haven’t seen you for a few days. Been cooped up here?”
“Again, does it fucking matter?” Seed sighed and shook his head.
Couldn’t they all just do their own thing and mind their own business?

“Seed, we’ve known each other long enough to know when somethings up. You’ve always been kind of a… First in, last out kind of guy. Lately it’s been more last in first out. You don’t hang around shop, I can’t even fucking remember the last time you were at Ground Zero, man.”
Seed didn’t answer. It had been really difficult for him to keep up lately. The chems weren’t as effective as they used to be. But they still did the same amount of damage, if not more. The few last missions he had to take short breaks just to catch his breath.
Jax continued with a sigh.
“So what’s the deal? Are you running with other guys? Are you avoiding us? Got a girlfriend? I mean c’mon, give me something to work with here, man”

Seed grunted loud and waved his arms around as he spoke.

“Fucking a… Just stop fucking check on me, dude. I’m fucking fine. I’m just fucking exhausted okay? I just need like, a few days to rest and I’m back at it.”
Jax looked around the room and gestured towards the mess.
“But you be cooped up like this. You can’t rest like this. You’re a fucking free bird and you decide to stay in a cage all day, man? I get you dont wanna work but atleast come hang out.”

Seed shook his head and crossed his arms slightly.
“Nah, rest is more effective this way.”
Jax chuckled and pointed at him.
“Ok, now I know you’re lyin.”
    “I’M NOT FU-”
Seeds word got interrupted by a sudden coughing fit. Every cough was deep and coarse and felt like someone was repeatedly stabbing him in the back. Jax took a step forward but then calmed down as the coughing stopped and was replaced by a uncomfortable wheezing for breathing.
“Oh yeah. And that too. You’ve been coughing way too much lately. You need to get off of that Blitz shit.”

Seed shook his head again.
    “No… I *cough* fine.”

    “Take your mask off.”
Seed looked up at him.
    “What?”
    “Take your fucking mask off.”
The two glared at each other in silence. Seed knew that Jax wouldn’t give up the subject, or leave until he had complied. With a quick detachment, Seed loosened the mask and threw it at Jax’s feet. He grinned and bared his shark like teeth.
    “There! You fucking HAPPY NOW?!”

Jax’s hostility softened and started to grow concerned. He couldn’t believe how much of a bad state Seed was in.
“... Duuude… You look like a corpse… No. You’re not taking more of that shit. You look like you’re fucking lucky to be alive already.”
    “I told you I’m fine.”
“YOU’RE NOT FINE! Seed! C’mon! You’re a chaser. We’re not talking about IF you drop dead, but WHEN you drop dead. I’ve ran with five chasers before you. Dead. All of em. Remember Tracy? Heartattack. Leon? Stroke. Tatia? Nobody fucking knows she just fucking dropped one day! And Fraz… Ok fine it wasn’t Blitz, but he fucking drowned in his own vomit. And I know you take more than just Blitz.”
Seed rubbed his eyes and temples. The headache was definitely getting worse.

“...so? I can’t get a heart attack. I have taken precautions, Im not dumb.”
Jax shook his head.
“Heh, yeah, you’re so “smart” for taking precautions, but your fucking dumb for continuing to chase.”
He then took a few steps closer to Seed, standing in the middle of the room.
“Dude… You and Faux are the only one left from way back then. You two are the closest thing I have to family. You’re like brothers to me. We’ve been through some real fucking tough shit that no normal person will have to deal with in their entire fucking lives….”
“Ughh… Save me the tear jerking… fuck… I’m not gonna stop chasing.”
Jax just sighed and looked down on the ground.
“Dude, at least think it over. I rather have you run with someone else than die, ok?”
Jax nodded up to Seed and walked over to the door.
“The way you’re in, you’re just gonna chase your own grave. Was nice seeing you at least.”
