Grandma opened the door to the fridge. She picked up the jug of milk from the shelf on the door. As she was closing the fridge door, Mouri walked into the kitchen. "Grandma! I need your help!" she exclaimed.

Grandma turned to her. "What is it, Mouri?" she asked.

Mouri stopped in front of her. She held out her hands. Cupped inside them was a speckled egg. "Lumi gave me this egg and I don't know what to do with it!" she blurted out. She was breathing quickly almost on the edge of hyperventilating.

"Take a deep breath," Grandma said in a soothing tone. She turned to set the milk on the table next to them and then turned back to her granddaughter. She held out her hands. "I'll take care of the egg. It'll be alright."

Mouri handed over the egg. She watched as Grandma hugged the egg close to her chest. "Thank you," she said letting out a long sigh.

"I'll need you to take care of getting dinner started while I go take care of this," Grandma said.

"Oh," Mouri started. "Ok, then." She turned and grabbed the jug of milk as Grandma stepped around her. "Grandma?"

Grandma paused in the doorway and glanced back over her shoulder at the younger Katragoon. "Yes, Dear?"

"Will the egg be ok?" Mouri asked. "Lumi gave it to me a while ago. But I forgot that I even had it." Her breathing started to pick up again. "I hope I didn't kill it because I forgot about the egg."

Grandma turned back to her. "Take a deep breath," she said. She took a couple of deep breaths that Mouri mimicked. "Just worry about dinner and I'll worry about the egg. How does that sound?" Mouri sighed and nodded. Grandma smiled at her. "It'll be ok." She turned walked from the kitchen. She stopped in front of a hallway closet. From it, she pulled out a basket and a spare blanket.

Then, she made her way to the living room. She gently set the egg on the couch. She placed the basket on the floor and knelt. She unfolded the blanket and carefully stuffed the basket with it. She arranged the blanket so there was a pocket in the middle. Once she was satisfied with how the basket was made, she gently picked up the egg and tucked it into the blanket. She used the couch to steady herself as she stood and then she walked over to her stitching lamp. She turned it and adjusted where the head of the lamp was so it would shine on the end table that she planned on placing the basket. With a nod of her head, she turned and walked back to the basket. She picked it up and stepped over to place it on the table. She fussed with the lamp and the basket a little more until she was satisfied with how they were arranged.

She walked back to the kitchen. Mouri had a couple of pans on the stove. She was cutting something on the cutting board that Grandma couldn't see. Grandma smiled watching her. "Now we just wait to see what hatches," she said more to herself than to Mouri. She stepped over and started helping prepare the food.
