eyes. similar to the crystals that beckon to his heart, his eyes are just as clear as a polished gemstone. these are the eyes of a child who was born with a pedigree & burdened with a curse. the color reflects that of kunzite, shadowed by the grey clouds of an overcast sky.
hair. parallel night, his hair cursed any color. obsidian like a moonless night, it shapes his face with poise & elegance. there is length, however it is short enough for those bold enough to desire its touch.
complexion. despite his fate due to the dark, his skin holds enough color that would make his mother’s heritage proud. it is soft to touch & wonderful to behold from an onlooking gaze. blemishes are non-existent beyond a few choice tattoos.
build. there are muscles, toned & prominent in his lithe form. a seductive balance of beauty & power. subtle curves dip along the hips with elegantly shaped limbs, questioning the line between masculinity to androgyny. it is not only a visage of one, pampered but of a fighter as well.

ABILITIES. 

Pain Transferal. 

• definition. This ability allows the user to transfer both physical or mental pain from one living being to another, which in most cases the pain would be transferred to the user of this ability. This ability does not allow the ability heal the wounds gained, the user can only take away the pain.
• application. Can be used on someone else: i.e. Skylar can transfer the pain from Subject A to Subject B without experiencing the pain himself.
• restrictions. Cannot be used on a person who is dying. Cannot be used to transfer Skylar’s own pain into another person. 
• consequences. Other than experiencing the pain of another person, Skylar’s own mental state can be weakened therefor causing dreariness, lack of focus, & memory problems. Of course this all depends on the severity of the pain. 

Health Manipulation. 

• definition. This ability allows the user to manipulate healing and the healing process of themselves or others like speeding any or all aspects of healing to the point of regenerating, or slowing and blocking healing even if the victim possesses healing abilities such as Enhanced Regeneration. The user can sense the health of anyone and the causes of wounds, diseases or injuries, the health history and possibly even genetic weaknesses and predispositions. Users may be able learn to reopen old wounds and re-inflict old illnesses and conditions, or even inflict completely new ones. The user is able to control the mental health of themselves and others as well, and can cause others to go insane or even cause the cured to degrade back. Alternatively, the user can heal the mentally ill and make them sane again. 
• restrictions. Cannot be used on himself no matter the circumstance. Cannot tamper with the mental health of others. Can only be used at max two to three hours at at time without consequence.
• consequences.  If used over three hours at a time or used for re-inflicting illnesses or even causing new ones in an opponent it takes a drastic toll on him. Such as extreme fatigue or loss of focus, sometimes even vomiting so he uses this with caution & doesn’t really tamper with re-inflicting illnesses on others.

Event Negation.

• definition. The ability in which the host can reverse any event that has happened to a previous or original state, therefore undoing any changes. Through application, it can completely regenerate a severed limb or ‘heal’ a fatal wound. In some cases, it could even reject death, essentially ‘resurrecting’ the target.
• restrictions. Cannot be used to revive the dead. Cannot be used offensively. Can only be used as a curative/regenerative ability. 
• consequences. Depending on what he’s “healing” the after-effects can vary from nosebleeds, severe migraines, nausea & vomiting, hallucinations, temporarily weakened immune system, or fainting. 

Crystal Manipulation.

• definition. The ability that allows the user to create, shape, & manipulate crystals or other crystalline properties. This includes manipulating the growth, shape, sharpness, or density / solidification of the crystalline properties. Can also be used to either polish or repair other crystals.
• restrictions. Does not apply to some Polycrystalline or Amorphous properties. Therefore metals, ice, or ceramics can not be affected. 
• consequences. This is the only one of Sky’s abilities that is unstable. Therefore he cannot control it as well as the others. This ability responds to heightened negative emotions. Such as anger, fear, etc. Can cause severe harm to others or himself.

BACKGROUND.

Dear little Basilaion, not completely vampire but not without human coding either he was named Skylar Varias, who is the sole child of Nora Varias, the human & Michael Archangelo, the pure-blooded Basilaion. Seemed pretty clean cut, right? However that isn’t the case entirely. Nora Varias, although human, is also part of the Basilaion race. She happened to be one of those rare cases of when two purebred carriers had a human child. Then as for Michael Archangelo, he’s the scumbag sperm donor who was supposed to be madly in love with Nora but the second she was out of the hospital, he was nowhere to be found. So there lay a young Nora Varias with her newborn bundle, the only good part of that time, something that she shared with only her parents & family. 

He grew up well as a child, living in Saint Cloud, Minnesota. There he was like any other child, gallivanting around with friends & getting his little hands into as much trouble as he could manage. It didn’t help that his best friend at the time was a gremlin just as eager for danger. What had started as conversations through the backyard fence that separated the two homes, had flourished into a lifelong companionship between the two little tykes despite the two of them being almost polar opposites. Danny Gray was this kid’s name & it’s a name that Skylar will grow to have a love-hate relationship as the years go by. But that’s a story for a later time. 

It was in these years that Skylar had come to realize his Pain Transferal & Health Manipulation abilities. How could he not?His best friend was always getting hurt in one way or another & the basilaion dhampir had always been a little worry wart. The awakening of Pain Transferal came first, during the time that Danny had ran through a glass door in a panic. The poor kid had so many cuts everywhere & still managed to smile, which could have been because Skylar was the one who kept crying and wouldn’t let go of his hand. Ultimately that was because the Basilaion child was the one who was experiencing the pain that was the aftermath of flesh cut by glass shards. 

His Health Manipulation only followed shortly thereafter. 

The little basilaion had rushed home one day because his after-school activities took longer than expected but on his way, he found a sick little pup on the side of the road. Poor thing had a bad cold & looked to have a few scraps. Worried that it might not make it, Skylar sat with it; petting it as he took it’s pain away but instead of only taking the pain away — the basilaion had managed to also cure it’s cold, making the pup as healthy as it could be without any traces of such an infliction. Shallow scrapes had closed up while worse cuts seemed to be healing faster than they should have. Eager that the pup had been doing so much better, Skylar ran to his best friend’s house to see if they could take more care of the dog since he wasn’t sure that his mom would allow him to keep it. ( Afterall, he had upset Nora earlier that morning so he wasn’t sure if she would have been mad at him still or not. )

However the dawning of such abilities wasn’t all fun and games anymore. His grandfather, Vincent Varias, the father of Nora, couldn’t just idly stand-by anymore. It was obvious that his blood was reacting to more of the Basilaion genes than not, so his childhood of being “normal” shortly came to an end at the nice age of eight. Abruptly, they picked up & moved to San Francisco, California where more of his Basilaion relatives had lived. There he grew up with more of his kind, surrounded by endless amount of family regardless of blood relation. Here, he would learn more about himself & the Basilaion traditions. 

          Years had passed & his exposure to his own vampiric kind had been enough that his grandfather allowed him to attend Cryselle Institute as a highschool student. Especially since he couldn’t teach him how to better hone his Pain Transferal & Health Manipulation abilities. He wasn’t fond of this decision but still he sent Skylar there for schooling. He was sixteen when he transferred into Cryselle for the first time. Now here comes the best part. 

Remember how Danny Gray was going to be a name he learned to hate, as well as love? Well this was because Danny was his first love albeit unrequited. Even if he was only a little brat when he developed the crush, it soon flourished into something more than mere adoration. Yet since Skylar had moved without a word & didn’t try to keep contact with his childhood friend, he just lived with the thought that he would never see Danny again. Boy, oh boy, was he wrong. Right when he thought his heart had moved on, he met Danny Gray again at Cryselle. God, that year was eventful. Meeting & falling in love with the same old unrequited love surely wasn’t something one would get to experience every day of their life. Plus the mayhem they twisted themselves into was priceless. Getting into trouble with an old friend was always fun but only now, the stress of endless exams constantly on hounded their backs. That sixteenth year of Skylar’s life was something he probably would never forget. 

Again, the fun abruptly came to an end. 

See, Skylar had a grandmother who lived in the Philippines where she was being taken care of by other family because a few years back, she got poisoned by some Peacock blood  & the illness it inflicted her with wouldn’t seem to go away. His grandmother, Rosemary Varias, had passed away a little before his school year came to an end. The peacock blood finally won in the end. Distraught, his grandfather picked up Skylar from school to take him & his mother all the way to the Philippines. Even after the funeral, they stayed in Cebu and were living there for about two years before his grandfather could steadily move on from this loss.

Being now nineteen years old, he had already been done with his secondary schooling so Skylar, along with his mother & grandfather, had moved around countless of times to follow a tutor that helped him better his abilities which had opened up a pathway to an ability known as Event Negation.

It wasn’t until around Skylar’s twenty-first birthday that his grandfather decided they could move back to the states. Moving back to Minnesota after over a decade was weird but he was glad that they didn’t move back to Saint Cloud. Sure there was slim chance that he could have seen Danny Gray again but the anxiety was still there. 

          Wayzata, Minnesota was a nice city to live in & Skylar welcomed this change like he always had; with a bright smile. Things were going splendidly but… of course, all good things had to be spoiled. His father came back with a thousand excuses yet that wasn’t the worst part. Nora was eager to accept him back into his life, almost a bit too eager. Or at least that’s how Skylar saw it. He never knew he could hold so much animosity towards a man he’s never met, never knew wrath as one of his vices. But how well do you truly know yourself? Skylar certainly did not at this moment &through his anger, his Crystal Manipulation awakened. 

The Basilaion dhampir doesn’t like to speak of the events that had unfolded, mostly because his anger almost blinded his mother in a literal, bloody sense. But it is because of the birth of such an unstable ability & less than comfortable atmosphere at home that he decided to apply to Asphodelum Academy in Crysellus. 

Of course, he had his reservations about returning to Crysellus after all these years but that’s why he took light to Asphodelum. He needed something to help him understand the newest parts of him, a cheap excuse for the reality of an individual who desired to run away. However, Skylar was eager to learn in earnest & to pursue his education in such a post-secondary establishment was nothing more than what he could have asked for.
