Eden snuggled closer to the warmth; the comforting warmth that engulfed her provided her with a sense of safety.

The strong arms that were wrapped gently around her waist pulled her closer before a quiet, but gruff voice spoke.

“You awake?” Muriel’s deep voice was laced with sleep. He must’ve just awoken.

“I’m awake,” Eden replied contently as she went to sit up, suddenly feeling a tad bit hungry.

“Want pancakes?” She asked groggily as a yawn escaped her lips.

It was a cold winters morning, and the only real source of heat was Muriel and although she was hungry this fact was making her hesitant on getting up and out of bed.

“That would be nice… I’ll get some wood on the fireplace.” Muriel responded, forcing himself to get out of bed despite how the cold made him want to stay in bed. One could compare him to a bear ready to go into hibernation.

Eden smiled as she also got out of bed, shivering as her bare feet hit the cold wooden floors.

With a squeak, she waddled into the kitchen, grabbing a throw off the couch as she did so to keep her somewhat warm while Muriel got the fireplace going.

The heavy wooden front door opened with a loud creak, before it shut with an even louder thud, signaling that Muriel had left to get the wood.

Flitting around the kitchen, she grabbed out the needed ingredients and got to work, thanks to enough extra wood in the house she didn’t have to wait for Muriel to cook the food.

As she was taking them out of the oven, the pancakes smelling heavenly, the heavy front door opened and in came Muriel lugging an armful of wood. That would last them a couple of days.

“Just in time!” Eden chirped happily as she set the pancakes on a plate and poured some syrup on them before bringing them over to the table.

“Smells good,” Muriel spoke with a soft smile; it didn’t take him too long to get the fire going and soon enough the two of them were snuggling on the couch while eating the soft and fluffy treat.

The warmth of the fire and the crackling of the wood provided a calming atmosphere, the massive man beside Eden was what made her truly calm.

Absentmindedly, Eden turned her gaze toward the window only to see specks of white falling from the sky.

“It’s snowing!” Eden gasped, it had been quite some time since she had last seen snow, and she had almost forgotten how lovely it looked despite how much the cold bothered her.

“It appears so,” Muriel replied as he pulled Eden closer to him allowing her to rest her head against his chest as she gazed outside.

“It’s so pretty. Look at how it blankets the landscape.” Eden spoke in awe.

“But not as pretty as you,” Muriel spoke, a grin appearing on his face.

“That’s so cheesy! But I love you too.” Eden giggled as she leaned upward and kissed Muriel’s cheek.

This was how she wanted to spend her winter days, next to the person she loved the most.
